Life's short, eat dessert first! This is always good advice and can apply to more than food. Life should be enjoyed not endured. Stop and smell the roses, or better yet, pick some up for your spouse or friend and surprise them just because you appreciate them.
No guts, no glory! Nobody ever won without trying. If you don't play the game you don't lose, but you can't win either. Those who TRY are winners in my book regardless of the end result.
No pain, no gain! If you want something you may have to work for it. Things that require a little effort are more appreciated than something that is too easy to attain. Greatness is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration, or so said one of the greatest minds of all time. Do you know who it was?
If all else fails, punt! Sometimes you just don't know what to do. All the doors have closed. All the opportunities seem to have disappeared. At this point it is time to take stock of what you really want and go out on a limb. Try something different or daring. Move. Call someone. Go for a long walk and let the wind clear your head. Never give up hope because tomorrow is another day, tomorrow could be the best day of your life.
Beat that child! Often said in jest when a particularly bratty child passes by in public. This is just a reminder that God's way is always the best way no matter what the public opinion of the day might be.
WHY? Because I'm the MOM and I said so, that's why? [Children obey your parents for this is right. That it may go well with you, that you may live long!] God says it better don't you think?
And your point would be? Often a necessary answer to distract teenagers because you really don't know how to respond to their slang.
Regarding Faith
"...without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him."
"God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance."
"faith comes from hearing the message and the message comes from the word of Christ."
"For by grace you have been saved through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not as a result of works so that no one can boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
"...the word of faith which we are preaching: that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes resulting in righteousness and with the mouth he confesses resulting in salvation."
"...all who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death. We were therefore buried with Him through baptism (immersion) into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life..."
"...baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the body, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ."
"Though you have not seen Him, you love Him. Even though you do not see him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls."
"the one who endures to the end, he shall be saved." AMEN
