Candiria
  • 300 Percent Density
Yet another incredible CD from an extremely talented band. The music is played with such conviction that it can literally move you. Again, their seamless integration of jazz into metal songs is fascinating, and the hip-hop on the album is astounding. I highly recommend this new CD to anyone who is unfamiliar with Candiria and their sound. It is a great example of what they are and should find its way into everyone’s collection.
  • Fear Factory
  • Digimortal
Fear Factory has again released a furious album with provocative lyrics and intense riffs. As a drummer, these CDs are always exciting to hear and Raymond Herrera’s double bass skills are disgustingly good if you’re into that kind of sound. The CD tends to sound a lot like itself, but after listening to it more and more, it will surely grow on you. I particularly enjoyed their collaboration with Cypress Hill for track
  • Massive Attack
  • Protection
I cannot stress enough the incredible talent of this outfit. This CD has not been removed from my player for days now. It is the type of album you can literally listen to hundreds of times in a row and not get tired of. The music is not metal or rock in any way, but rather a very mellow and heady trip-hop. Pulsing bass and incredible drumming mix with haunting sounds and even orchestral music. For these reasons, it is MANDATORY that you own this CD. Buy it right now.
  • Skrape
  • New Killer America
Although this CD is well produced and will surely be extremely popular in the near future, I did not enjoy it as much as I had hoped. It is a very well played CD and definitely has its moments. I don’t mean to tear it down or anything, perhaps I am being too hard on it in comparison to other CDs I have purchased recently. If you are heavily into the whole emerging artists scene and enjoy what you’re hearing on the radio lately, then you should like this album very much. However, with all of these new bands such as Drowning Pool, Puddle of Mud, Linkin Park, Cold, etc.; this CD will probably be overlooked.
  • TOOL
  • Lateralus
Like most TOOL fans, I have been waiting forever for this new album. Friends of mine were skeptical after hearing Schism, but they soon heard the entire album and fell in love with it. It is high quality and more than I had expected. They have definitely not changed for the worse and remain intelligent and mysterious musicians. I have admired Danny Carey’s talent since I heard my first TOOL song. This CD does not let up and truly delivers.
  • (Hed)pe
  • Broke
I got this CD long ago before it was due out and changed for release. It is a very excellent album and is very different from the first. They are both innovative and heavy, so I reccomend this CD to pretty much everyone.
  • Linkin Park
  • Hybrid Theory
Another awesome CD I regret not finding any sooner than I did. This is the type of band that everyone will grow to love and the novelty of being the only one who knows about them will be gone. Therefore, it is an awesome CD, like a mix of Coal Chamber, P.O.D., Deftones, and many other great artists, it does not disappoint. Lots of emotion with easily understood lyrics.
  • David Davinchi & The Wrong Crowd
  • Notice Me
This is a remarkable CD from an extremely knowledgeable and incredible band. My friend's brother drums in the band and puts out an amazing show along with the rest of the band. The music is gripping and vivid, suitable for all audiences. It is NOT hardcore, but rather a mix of rock, jazz/blues, and any other style you could imagine. Very hard to explain, give it a listen if you have the opportunity. Their live shows are amazing if you ever get a chance to see one. Click the Broken Shackles link for additional info. Most definitely a band to watch closely.
  • Roni Size/Reprazent
  • In the Mode
I was very pleased with the first double CD I picked up by Mr.Size and this CD is also quite good. It has several cameo appearances by Rahzel, Method Man, and Zack De La Rocha. Once again, this disc is not hardcore, but more turntable like music with a great beat and tons o' bass. Good stuff for hangin' out.
  • Seven Hill Psychos
  • Inner-Psycho
Definitely a band to watch out for in 2001. I was very impressed with this CD even though it was very difficult to obtain and the booklet was printed from an ordinary printer and the cd itself is a CD-R. Nevertheless, the album is great, a perfect mix of hardcore, rapcore, good stuff. I highly reccomend this CD and advise everyone to be on the lookout for these guys in the near future.
  • 7th Rail Crew
  • Open Your Eyes
Here is another talented band from the Northeast to keep an eye on. Although their new CD is very much different from the EP, it is not bad different. It has lots of character and will surely attract plenty of attention. Pick it up while you can. I have a feeling this CD is going to be like the Godsmack 'All Wound Up' disc I got my hands on before they re-released the CD.
