Factory Pro +4 degree Advancer

I had all my plastics off, but you will have to remove the front fairing.

*Keep the Service Manual handy for part reference*
1) Drain the coolant.
2) Drain the oil.
3) Remove the 2 top bolts for the radiator and the one from behind it.
4) Remove all coolant hoses from the water pump cover.

5) Loosen/remove the 16 bolts from the side cover, there's one bolt for the water pump that can stay in, it threads into to the cover, not the block. I made a note of sizes and locations at the bottom of this.
6) Follow the wire for the Pulse Alt Starter Switch to the left side, bottom of the radiator, and disconnect it.
7) Pull the wire out through the right side.
8) Pull off the right crank case cover, set it aside. Small amounts of coolant and oil will drip out, so be prepared.

9) Use the bolt from the back of the radiator and place it into the hole in the timing rotor that is threaded. Tighten it. Put a wire tie through the other hole that is not threaded. This will keep the primary gear outer from popping off.
NOTE: If it pops out, you will have to remove the left side cover and clutch assembly to get it back on.

10) Place a medium sized hex key between the gears, topside, to keep the gears from turning.
11) Loosen the main bolt and remove.
12) Pull off the Timing Rotor and insert the new one.
13) Insert the bolt and washer.

14) Using the same hex key, place it between gears, bottom side, and torque bolt to spec, 65FtLb, remove the extra bolt and wire tie that you inserted in step 9.
15) Clean off the old gasket from both sides.
16) Put some sealant around the area where the Pulse Alt Switch wire goes through the cover. Read sealant instructions for cure times and condition.
17) Place the new gasket on the cover.
18) Align the standoffs and place crankcase cover back on.

19) Insert all bolts in proper places and torque to spec, 7FtLb.
20) Connect all of the coolant hoses and mount the radiator.
21) Feed Pulse Alt Switch wire back through to the other side and connect it.
22) Fill the engine with oil and coolant. Look over to make sure everything is in place.
NOTE:Carbs may need to be adjusted after.
