Need to obtain a certified copy of your marriage license? Marriage records can be kept on the state, county or town level. You actually already know who to contact to get a certified copy. It is easiest to contact the clerk's office where you originally took out your application for a marriage license before you got married. They can tell you the cost and procedure in your state to obtain a certified copy of your marriage license.
If for some reason that does not work, (the clerk in the quaint New England town where I got my license left for a two year cruise and the department functionally shut down until the town found someone else to fill the position) I have listed the web addresses for the various state's web sites. Most of the states in the U.S. have web pages with information including the name, address, and phone of the various government agencies. You would be looking for the department of Vital Records. I have provided a link to the state's main page. This is to avoid giving you a dead link should they move where they have their vital statistics information. Different states have different levels of information available on their websites. Look around their site and if you do not find what you need then e-mail them to request the procedure and cost to obtain a certified copy of your marriage license.
