Brumbys Creek clean up

Wednesday 7th December saw six of us turn out to cut that fast growing grass around the toilet block

area at Brumbys. With three mowers and a couple of brush cutters on the go it didn’t take long. It’s

nice to see the new members, like Roy , turning out on these occasions. The mowing was all

done by lunchtime so seeing as we just happened to have our rods with us we went fishing in the

afternoon. Results were varied but Ken stood out with three nice fish taken on dry in the

weirpool.

For new members who may not know it, a few years ago the AAT ( Anglers Alliance Tasmania )

started an Adopt a Water programme whereby clubs and organisations volunteer to look after a

specific stretch or body of water. The CFFCA volunteered to look after the stretch of Brumbys

Creek above No.1 weir. We don’t just cut the grass, we occasionally walk to the weir and back

picking up litter. Not that there’s ever much of that, being an artificials only water. ( If you ever want

to start a ‘friendly discussion’ in an all methods fishing club point out how clean and tidy artificials

only waters, and particularly fly only waters are, compared to waters where bait fishing is allowed.)
