Chapter Five: A Dream to Take Over

Blindfolded we were as we were led into the van that would take us back into reality. We weren't bound; there was no need for that now.

Rough hands unloaded us from the vehicle onto the street. Even through the cloth, I could tell it was daylight. "Count to twenty, and then you can take those off, not before," a male voice instructed us. "Count slowly." I heard a screech of wheels take off almost immediately after he stopped speaking.

I took off my blindfold and squinted in the daylight. Darren was removing his.

I took his hand. "Are you okay?" I asked. He nodded.

"Maybe we should call the cops about this, now that we're safe," he offered.

"What would be the point? We don't know who abducted us, or where we were taken. We'd look like fools."

Darren pondered this. "Yeah, I guess you're right." We looked around. Indeed, we were in front of his building. Neither of us had any idea how our kidnappers knew where he lived, and somehow, we didn't want to know.

"Besides," I said, "do you really regret what happened?"

He took a breath, and after a moment, replied, "No. Do you?"

"No." He put his arms around me, and pressed his lips against mine. Our tongues met; for a moment I was back in heaven.

"Let's go inside," he said after we broke off, leaving his right arm around me. We walked through the doors, to the elevator. Once inside the car, we melted into another swooning kiss.

"When we get to my place, I'm going to make love to you," he whispered in my ear. "Just the two of us, and then I'm going to hold you all night." He led me back to his lips.

What was reality less than six hours ago was now back in fantasy, a dream for us to share as long as we were a couple, which I knew would be a long, long time. I could tell through Darren's deep longing kisses and the way he was holding me. We had walked through that door within the dark, and found each other on the other side.
