MATHIEU CHORET (Chauré) came from the province of Aunis *Department of
Charente. The province of Normandy was first to send 683 colonists to
Canada in 17th Century and the province of Aunis sent 403. Tracing the
Charette Family we found them in Quebec, Ile d'Orleans, Ottawa Valley,
North Bay, Sudbury, Canadian West, Windsor, New Brunswick, Florida,
California. In Alaska, a cousin Charette introduced us to his wife, an
Eskimo, and his two children. Some Charettes are in France, in Poland,
Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Holland and there is even one in
Tunisia.
