HELLO WEB SURFERS AND BLACK MEMORABILIA COLLECTORS!!!

I have been collecting black memorabilia for several years now and have accummulated quite a collection with about 200 pieces. With the aid of modern technology, I would like to share a small portion of my collection with you. Please bookmark my homepage; I will continue to post new items on a regular basis (and plan to expand with a "Unique Collectibles for Sale" area).

The last time I checked, there were about 50,000 black memorabilia collectors in the United States today, those of which were primarily African-Americans. I hope to reach everyone who is interested in collecting or considering to begin. I remember when I first began to collect, I had a very difficult time locating information about black memorabilia. Collectors wouldn't even discuss it unless I was a prospective buyer of one of their items for sale. In addition, the derogatory aspects of black memorabilia causes many to be "hush-hush" about the subject. As an African-American collector myself, I hope to eliminate this "secrecy" and encourage others to recognize the concept of black memorabilia as a segment in history.

I encourage all correspondence via email. I am always wanting to learn about new and unusual items. I am also eager to trade, buy, and sell.

Black Raggedy Ann and Andy

Unsure as to manufacturer or date. Looks to be manufactured by a company, with handsewn features. If anyone knows please email me with information. These dolls are each three feet tall with brown skin and black yarn hair. Andy's face is embroidered, Ann's face is not. I have never seen these before, but they may be around. Very good condition. Est. value $200-250.

Black Children Flue Cover

Late 1800s-early 1900s. Glass-covered flue cover (tin rim) with three young naturalistic black boys sitting on bales of cotton, Mississippi steamboat in background. Beautiful lithograph! Never seen before, have you? I was told black flue covers are rare, do you agree? Est. value $250-300.

Black Girl Watercolor Painting

Signed "GH" and dated, 1931, approx. 12" x 16" large. Beautiful watercolor (although looks pastel) painting of young girl holding watermelon. Very nice and very rare; looks like artist got subject matter from an original manufactured print. Est. value $575.

Little Black Sambo Book

Early edition. Undated, published by Henry Altemus Company with 27 illustrations. Probably known, not sure. Est. value $125.

Black Girl Can of Soda

Interesting can of soda, unopened. Watermelon flavor. Picture of black girl holding watermelon on one side; white boy holding watermelon on other side. Probably uncommon, but would like your opinion.. Est. value $45.

I hope you enjoyed browsing through some of my collection. I will continue to post new items every week or so (I will try to post items that have not been seen in books, etc.) Please contact me to discuss black memorabilia, infomation exchange of black memorabilia shows, auctions, etc., or if you see an error in my listings!!
