| So, I'll admit it, every now and then I watch.... oh, this is horrible to admit... the shame... I watch figure skating. Now, I'm not obsessive about it, I couldn't tell a sow cow from a bull cow (and I just do NOT get why you're supposed to turn nearly 4 times for something to be a triple jump). But, anyhow, I do watch it sometimes when I'm bored or when I hear things ahead of time like Michelle Kwan will get points deducted because she can't manage to stop skating in time. (Call me weird, I don't like how she skates - esp. her jumps - and am so sick of hearing about her, I enjoy watching her not win. Oh, geez, I am horrible, aren't I?!)
Anyhow, that's neither here nor there. Except that if I'm horrible, Dick Buttons is evil. He gets SO excited each time he sees someone fall. I can just picture him nearly jumping out of his chair with glee. And when the slow motion replay shows someone actually screwed up the landing of something but managed to hide it in real time, he acts as if he just found Osama Bin Laden on tape instead of some stupid inner edge instead of an outer edge of a figure skate. Yo, Dick, get over yourself. I know at some point he was a good skater. At least, so I've heard. IT surely was before I was even born. He probably was a real stud at those double jumps that were bright and shiney and new in his day. I'd love to see him out on skates these days, and maybe get that American Idol guy to comment on his performance.... now THAT would be must see TV! (And if you're a streaker, here's a hint, don't embarass yourself... stay away from any sport's venue that involves freezing temperatures.) |

| Just under the wire for making this a Saturday friday five.
1. What was the last song you heard? A snippet of? "Like a Prayer" on VH1's "I love the 80s: 89" thingy I'm half watching. In totality? Some Irish thing at a St. Patrick's Day party tonight. 2. What were the last two movies you saw? Hmm. There's a good question. I really can't even begin to recall. If we're just counting in movie theatres, Finding Nemo and Momento (that came out after that "I see dead people" annoyingly precocious boy and Bruce Willis movie - the name of which I can't recall right now, right? If not, substitute that one). 3. What were the last three things you purchased? An iced coffee, groceries (not counting them each individually), and clothes for Rowan last night (love that Children's Place outlet store). 4. What four things do you need to do this weekend? Hmm. It's half over, but I'll pretend I'm writing this Friday - 1. work the Home Show for my job from 5-9 Friday night. 2. Prepare a potluck dish for, and help set up and clean after, the church St. Patrick's Day party on Saturday. 3. Teach the high school class at church (subject: The Simpsons' Bible Stories episode). 4. Compile and mail out the November 97 Moms' annual yearbook (um, after hunting down one last mom's page ;)). 5. Who are the last five people you talked to? Gary, Rowan, um... three people at church. I doubt I could remember exactly which three were the last I said goodbye to when we left! (Probably Cassie, Chris, and Janet, I think they were closest to the door). Going back to question 4.... the home show was hellacious. I HATE things like that, I'm just not the outgoing grab people and talk to them type person. Eh. At least I get paid for it. ;) |
