My Mom

Now let me tell you something before I begin; I hate pink. Hate hate hate pink. But well, it's her favorite colour, and the least I could do to honour her on a page devoted to her would be to use a colour that she likes a lot, right? Another thing, I will be scanning in some other pics of her soon, such as a few wedding pics from when she was marrying my dad way back in 1976, so make sure to check back here soon. On with the show!

Well, my mom. I could say a lot about al that we have been through, the turbulant lives that we've led, but I don't feel like it. This page is to honour one of the spunkiest survivors that I have known in my life. I'll start out by telling you that my mom is a small woman, she's but 4'11". Despite this, she's most definately a larger than life character! She's quite a vivacious woman, when her medications don't interfere, and she likes to constantly be on the go, doing something. Since Joe and I bought her a computer, she's become a net junkie as well! But that's cool, it let's me keep in touch with her a lot better now, ya know?

Her handle on ICQ is CriscoKid. I bet you're wondering why on Earth we'd ever dream of calling her something that has anything to do with a big bucket of fat when she's so thin. Well, here we go. My mom, and my little (chronologically, not in size,) brother Bruce can sit down with a tub of Criso and a spoon and just *ugh* eat! Bet you're saying the same thing I say, "Eeeeeeeyuuuuuu!!!" But hey, whatever floats her boat, ya know? At least she doesn't eat pickled pigs' feet anymore!

One of my favorite memories of my mom is actually a montage of the same occurance over the course of the years. Whenever she'd come to school to get me out early, she would be wearing a leather jacket and jeans, carrying a helmet half of the time. Everyone, kids and teachers alike, were astonished that this little quiet geek's mom was a biker babe! This changed over the years, granted, but a part of that remains with her still, a spark of biker bitch. And let me tell you that bikers are probably the nicest people you'll ever meet, I don't care what anyone else says!

So where is she now? Well, she still live in my hometown of Willimantic. I must say that her taste in men has gotten better since my memories of the men that she dated and/or married, as she has an apartment with a man that I truly like, Jim. My brother Bruce lives with them, and is getting through High School, despite everyone's expectations of the kid. (I'll get into that some other time.) The tough part is a bit devastating.

See, my mom has AIDS. We found this out three years ago. It really isn't important for me to recount the way she contracted it, there are no good or bad ways to get this thing, so I don't think that it really matters. If you need to know, then we can talk about it and all, but it's not an issue. The best thing that I can tell you is that we all have hope for a cure, and she will get better soon.

So now she's on all types of medication, and whenever I find out about a new med, I have a habit of having her ask her doctor about it. That's actually how we found out about Marinol®, a drug to help stave off appetite loss. Things go up and down with her and all, but that's to be expected. If anyone would like to e-mail her and give her your emotional support, her e-mail is Gorgone@prodigy.net I'm sure she'll be happy to hear from you!

And now, without further ado, the woman herself, at her first wedding back in the 70's, CriscoKid!!!
