DeMolay is a fraternity for young men between the ages of 12-21. We are global, founded in 1919, and have had many famous members such as Bill Clinton, The Duke (a.k.a. John Wayne), Mel Blanc, and Mark Callaway (but you would know him as the UNDERTAKER!!). Recently, I also learned that Big Sexy Kevin Nash himself was a DeMolay in Arizona!! The best explanation of DeMolay is on the links above.
There are many things we do in DeMolay -- chapter events, state events and even international events.
Chapter events are what we do most. Our regular meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. Other activities include basketball and softball practices, dances, parties, and pro sports games. We are planning a ski weekend to Sunday River in Maine again, and we may also go to New York City to visit another chapter, or just chill somewhere.
The state events are the ten pin bowling, candlepin bowling, basketball, softball, and volleyball tournaments, the Sweetheart Ball (a formal dance) and Conclave (convention) in July which is a blast.
An international event may include going to the softball tournament to play other states for the national championship.
The thing about all these above activities is that we do them! We pretty much suggest an event at a meeting, discuss it, and then do it in the next week or two. So, if you have ideas, you just say them and we may do them!
Our State's office is in the Masonic Grand Lodge building located on Tremont Street in Boston across from the Common. Saugus Chapter is obviously in Saugus, Ma. but can be for anyone that lives in Saugus, Peabody, Revere, Melrose, Malden, Medford, Everett, or Wakefield. Just because it's called Saugus Chapter, it's not just for Saugus kids.
To officially join you have to be approved by the chapter members (don't worry, we're not selective snobs; we just try to get good kids). If you are interested or have any questions contact us.
