Gaston Glock's weapons as you probably know, have quite a fan club.
Law Enforcement Officers, Military, and civilians all have
a use for these great guns. The lightweight of the polymer
frame makes these guns great for a Cop that has to carry a gun
for an 8 hour shift (a few Oz. makes the difference). The polymer
frame has been duplicated by just about every major gunmaker.

Glock not only helped revolutionize handguns with the plastic frame...
He also applied the Tenifer coating to his guns. This is a coating of the
metal pieces that virtually makes his guns rust proof. Most of the components
in the gun have this coating, as well as all of the exterior parts.

Glocks are noted for reliability. However it is well known that there are
some problems with the higher caliber models having problems. At the six O'clock
position of the barrels (mostly the 40S&W and 45acp) The casings are unsupported.
There have been problems with blowouts. In most cases though, the shooters were
using reloads. Further, this problem can be fixed with an aftermarket barrel.
The only other problem that I have ever heard of with these guns, are that the
factory sights are plastic and wear down under normal conditions...but who keeps
the factory sights these days? A good set of night sights are almost essential.
Don't These problems scare you away, GLOCKS have undergone some of the most stringent tests.
They fire with sand and water in the barrel, after being frozen in a block of ice, after being run over,
dropped off a cliff,etc. You can't stop the Glock.
