If no one would mind, I would like to post a question to attempt to get things moving again...
When was the first time the dwarves and Bilbo saw Beorn in bear form?
I know, this is very easy, but it's all I could think of!

When he was keeping an eye on the ponies he lent them, and the company travelled north along the west side of Mirkwood?

Okay...next question:
How many rivers does it say in the book that Bilbo crossed (walking, or riding) on his journey?
Edit: And if more than once on one river, I like to know that too.

Nope, not quite, but let me change the question a bit:
How many times is it mentioned that Bilbo crossed a river (walking or riding) on his journey?

I think that he runs across The Water to get to the Green Dragon. After that, there's a river a bit before the trolls where they lose a pony. Then there's the ford of Bruinen, and I believe that they cross a bridge to get into Rivendell. After that, they cross part of the Anduin riding eagles, and the second part by walking. I don't know if that counts as two or not. Then there's the forest river, and then I think that we can discount the river flowing from the elven king's halls, because he is neither walking nor riding (unless you count 'riding a barrel). I can't think of any particular instances when they cross the River Running, but there may well be some. Checking, I find that the only crossing mentioned on the return journey are the first four I mentioned. That gives a grand total of ...
ten or eleven (or twelve if the elvish river is counted), plus any times that the cross the River Running.
Am I close?

No, riding barrels does not count (you don't cross the river in barrels, you know!)
But you're still not right, I'm afraid! []
A little hint: Check the River Running again! []

Well, in addition to L-Dorian's list, I did find this comment at the beginning of chapter 11 (On the Doorstep):
quote:
In two days going they rowed right up the Long Lake and passed out into the River Running
So I guess that would make 12, or 13 if you count the barrel-riding (which I would definitely count as "riding" on a river since it's stated in the very name of the action).

Okay, I think you're missing the question a bit:
How many times is it mentioned that Bilbo crossed a river (walking or riding) on his journey?
Yes, barrel-riding would count, but he did not cross any river by doing that, he only followed it southwards. Just as with your quote: It tells about them going up a river, but I want to know how many times they crossed a river.
But you're getting closer, though! []

Well, given the fact that Erebor was on the other side of the River Runing, it stands to reason that they "crossed" it after rowing up it for a ways, don't you think?

Nope. I don't think that (at least I don't count that!), I only want to know about the river-crossings (going over a river!).

Is anyone remembering the river they crossed while in Mirkwood? The one that you loose your memory in...was Bilbo in the raft everytime they crossed it? I don't remember, and I don't know the name of the river...
Because I'm so unsure, I won't guess! []

Okay, this was maybe a little difficult, but let me make it a little easier to you:
How many times does Bilbo cross a river on his journey (if the river's not mentioned, and it's not on the map in the book, we assume that it's not there!)

Okay, this seemed to be a little difficult! LOL! I'm good... [] []
The answer to the first one (River-crossings mentioned) is actually 14, and the other one (river-crossings at all) is, as I found out:19!
I've had the control over this Trivia way too long, so I'm just going to push it gently over, to the next one who wants it, with a simple question:
Which were the "evil" ceatures of the Hobbit?
