Good guess, but I think that that was more Morgoth deliberately growing dragons with wings. At any rate, it's not as clear cut as the reference I have.

Is exactly what I was thinking of. Some of the fish there are also referred to as blind. --- Your turn.

Thanks for the welcome, Bungo. The Bills have problems, but Flutie wouldn't help I don't think. How is life under the ChiCom?

1) The strongest is Dori. (2) The best eyesight belongs to Fili. (I believe that he was the dwarf to see the boat on Mirkwood's river. Correct?)

What "three" different references to "eggs" were made in the book? Two are obvious. The third may be rather difficult.

- The egg riddle, and gollum's subsequent memories of teaching his grandmother to suck them. - In the first chapter, someone calls for Bilbo to cook some eggs. --- That's the two obvious references out of the way with. The prize to whoever gets the third. My guess at the moment is that it could be the reference to the eagles' eyrie, which it could be construed would mean that they had eggs there.

Hmmm, there are a lot more references to eggs then three. In addition to TLs two: In addition to asking him to fry up some eggs at the unexpected party, Bilbo is told that (I thing Thorin) likes ham with his eggs. Bilbo is constantly dreaming of bacon and eggs, I believe in Mirkwood, just before the Riddle Game and in the gatehouse at the Dwarf caves. The old thrush talks about how long it had been since he came out of the egg. And I had to look to make sure, but there was the 'egg shaped' stones that Bilbo picked up to throw at the spiders. My question on butchers a few months back helped me a lot here!

Congratulations Marcho! I lumped all references of Bilbo cooking/eating/desiring eggs as one mention. The egg riddle of course was another. I must admit, I had missed the part about the thrush. But you did get the third one I was looking for, the "egg-shaped stones." Your go!

Hi, LonelyTurambar. I'm travelling these days through USA and Canada, so rarely get to visit Minas Tirith. You're right about Doug Flutie. And life under the Chinese in Hong Kong is a piece of cake. It's just like before. Disneyland opens in HK in 2005. So, on with the game. p.s. I am going to a sneak preview of the film tonight at 10pm in Ontario! Woo Hoo! Twenty years of waiting, and four years of drooling over rumours, finally comes to fruition! Be still my heart.

On earth there's a warrior of curious origin. He's created, gleaming, by two dumb creatures for the benefit of men. Foe bears him against foe to inflict harm. Women often fetter him, strong as he is. If maidens and men care for him with due consideration and feed him frequently, he'll faithfully obey them and serve them well. Men succour him for the warmth he offers in return; but this warrior will savage anyone who permits him to become too proud.
