The Iliad
By Homer

The purpose of this page is to help me and others with the reading of The Iliad. I hope you find my summaries useful. Note that I read the Samuel Butler translation. The two are very similar; however, the big difference is in names of characters (especially among the top gods). I listed the names of the characters for both translations during my summary. I.E., the god of thunder is Jove (Zeus). Any (and this is the case for most) time characters names are really similar, I leave it unchanged and expect you to make the inference yourself. I.E., Calchas and Kalkhas are the same prophets from book I. Any questions/comments can be sent to the email address listed below. Thanks, Dan.
