Bulma stared into the screen long and hard. Her heart raced with joy as she saw the tiny object move. The tiny object was inside her, growing and changing. It was their creation, her and Yamcha’s, their baby. Dr. Santiago also gazed at the screen thoughtfully. He nodded as he looked down at her.
“ Would you like to know the gender of the baby?” He asked.
“ Yes I would.” She said in a soft voice.
“ It is a healthy baby girl.” He said, continuing to gaze at the screen.
“ Would you like a picture for the father?” He asked in a soft voice. Bulma nodded her head slowly. He smiled as he gave her a small picture. ” Okay, You may get dressed and leave.” He said as he switching off the screen and leaving the room. She got up off the table gently and began to dress. She patted her still flat stomach gently.
“ Okay baby girl, lets go home!” She said laughing gently as she opened the door to leave.
Bulma arrived home an hour later, she still was living in the capsule corperation with her husband. It had plenty of space, which allowed privacy and she still got to be close to her family. Bulma sighed as she entered the empty house, Yamcha was no where in sight. She sighed again as she looked at the mess in the living room.
“ Oh well, guess I will go visit my parents.” She thought as she made her way to their part of the house.
When Bulma arrived she could hear yelling in the kitchen, more specificly Vegeta yelling. She entered the kitchen to find Vegeta now eating and her mother still cooking.
“ Oh Hi Bulma!” Her mother gushed as she gave her daughter a hug.
“ Hi mom, Hi Vegeta.” She said looking at him, he growled silently as he continued to eat.
“ So how was your visit with the doctor? “ Her mother asked cheerfully.
“ Oh good. Dr. Santiago said that the baby was healthy, and It is a girl!.” Bulma said with a smile.
“ Oh that’s wonderful!” Her mother said giving her another hug.
“ Yes, it is. I haven’t told Yamcha yet, I don’t know where he is.” Bulma said, a bit worried about him.
“ Woman! I need more food!” A voice boomed behind the two women.
“ Okay Vegeta!” Her mother said cheerfully as she emptied the frying pan full of food onto his plate. Bulma rolled her eyes as her mother shamelessly flirted with him.
“ Shut up Vegeta, your lucky you get to eat at all. “ Bulma said in an angry voice.
“ Oh Bulma! I don’t mind!” Her mother cut in with enthusiasm, obviously noticing the tension between the two. “ Just say when Vegeta!” Her mother said as went back to cooking.
“ Oh mother, you are such a ditz sometimes.” Bulma said as she rolled her eyes again.
“ Oh well.” Her mother laughed. “ So have you given any thought to names?”
“ Not yet. I don’t know what to name this child.” Bulma said as she patted her flat stomach. “ Oh well I won’t look this good much longer.”
“ You’ll look beautiful no matter what.” Yamcha said as he wrapped an arm around her waist, suprising her.
“ Yeah sure, we’ll see how you feel in four months.” She said as she kissed her husband hello.
“ So how did it go?” He asked.
“ Oh good, the baby is healthy and its a girl.” She said as she handed him the sonogram picture.
“ Wow, a girl.” He said as he studied the picture breifly.
“ Yes, a girl. So where were you? “ She asked him. Vegeta looked up at the two with mild interest, Vegeta smirked at the thought of the two fighting, He hadn’t seen that since last week.
“ Oh, I was picking something up at the store.” He said letting go of her waist. “ I thought you might be over here since you weren’t over there.”
“ Well you were right!” She said as she kissed him again.
“ Yeah well I guess I have that kind of luck.” He laughed, returning the kiss.
“ Damn human weaklings.” Vegeta said, as he threw his dishes into the sink and stormed out of the room.
“ What’s his problem?” Bulma said in wonder.
“ I don’t know.” He said gently stroking the hair out of her face.
“ Well You wanna go now?” She asked, a bit of mischievousness creeping into her voice.
“ Yeah sure.” he said as he kissed her again.
“ Um...Mom we’ll see you later.” Bulma laughed as she pulled Yamcha out of the kitchen.
Hours later Bulma awoke wrapped up in Yamcha’s arms. She smiled as she rose from the bed. Her body felt a bit tired from what had to be the best sex they had ever had. She sighed as she pulled on her robe and went into the living room. Bulma looked around the room before finding the usual pile of mail. She scanned the envelopes quickly, most of them were bills. She continued to flip through the mail when a brown envelop marked “ Urgent “ caught her eye. It was addressed to her and Yamcha. She opened the letter quickly. Her eyes widened as she read it. it was from a woman, a woman she knew, Leslie . Memories raced through her mind as she thought of Leslie. Leslie and Bulma had been good friends. They had met while she and Yamcha were taking a break. Bulma had a run in with her and Yamcha once at a bar. Yamcha had introduced the two and much to everyone‘s suprise the two soon became friends. Leslie was a decent young woman and she and Yamcha had only had a brief fling during the Bulma and Yamcha’s off period, but Leslie had left town one day hadn’t been seen in three years.
~Flashback~
“ Bulma, I have something to tell you.” Leslie started, her pale green eyes filled with worry.
“ What Les?” Bulma asked, beginning to feel concerned about her friend. Leslie hadn’t been herself she had been quiet and distant the whole visit.
“ Bulma, I am leaving town.” Leslie said in a quiet voice.
“ When are you coming back?” Bulma asked, her worry growing at an unfathamable speed.
“ I am not. I am leaving town for good.” Leslie said, looking down at her coffee.
“ Why?” She questioned softly.
“ Because I have done something terrible and I can not stay here any longer.” She whispered.
“ Oh Leslie.” Bulma said as she wrapped her arms around her friend. “ I don’t know what you did, but it can’t be that bad.”
“ Oh yes it can, If I stay here I will ruin the lives of many people.” Leslie whispered into Bulma’s shoulder.
“ Leslie, I can’t stop you from leaving but I want you to know that what ever you did I hope and pray that you are safe.” Bulma said in a soft voice releasing Leslie.
“ Well then I had better go.” She said as she rose from her seat.
“ Well if you must.” Bulma laughed as she embraced her friend one last time. “ I hope everything is okay Leslie I really do.”
“ It will be someday Bulma-chan it will be someday.” Leslie said before she drove off. Bulma waved good bye to her friend, not knowing it would be the last time she ever heard from her again.
~Flashback ends~
Bulma’s eyes continued to scan the letter, she gasped with disbelief. She couldn’t begin to believe what she read. Leslie was dying, and the papers were divorce papers, and papers regarding the custody of a little girl named Celeste, Leslie and Yamcha’s daughter.
