Update-Sunday, July 28, 2003 7:50 P.M.

Wow, it sure has been a while since an update of any sort...even a simple "I still care about the site" notice. Well, here it is. It is still summer vacation for me, and I don't plan to update the site regularly again, until school resumes. Basically, I have to get out of "relaxation mode" and into "working mode". I may or may not make a few updates until then, which is in late-August, but if I do, I may post a review of the Palm Tungsten C, which I bought on Thursday. It is a very snappy device, and I thoroughly enjoy it so far. Well, have a good summer everyone, and keep e-mailing me!

Update-Thursday, June 5, 2003 11:40 P.M.

It's officially summer! Well, actually it has been summer since last Friday. I know there hasn't been any new content on this site since almost a month ago. I've been...well, busy. With many things. Mainly, I've just been organizing my room, and my priorities in life, and deciding what should go before what, etc. I'm trying to make the most of my time, and save as much time as possible. It's hard to do, when you are as busy a person as I am. Still, I haven't given up on this site, not now, not ever, and that will be evident soon. In a few weeks, or sooner, you can expect a major graphical overhaul of the site's interface. I want it to be as clean and easy to read as possible, while being cool enough for the graphics-hungry Mac users out there(I suffer from graphical love, too). I am testing out several new designs, but I am really not sure what to use on the site. If you would like to help me "beta-test" these new designs, then email me and I will give you a few links to some of the different designs. While you are at it, tell me what you think of the site in its current incarnation. I know, it isn't great, but it isn't terrible, and I want you all to be honest. In the mean time before the big overhaul, I may just change a few colors around here. I've been trying to figure out CSS(Cascading Style Sheets) but I haven't been able to get them to work for me. In addition, the site will soon be splitting into different sections. There will be a greater emphasis on Palm devices, which I love, and a plethora of reviews relating to the Palm OS. Lately I have been getting into the Palm platform a lot more, and I feel like I know enough about them to make a Palm section on the site. Also, it may attract more users to the site. Well, toss me an email, and bookmark The Quantum Trash Can!

Update-Wednesday, May 21, 2003 7:15 P.M.

It's been another busy week, which is why there was (yet again) no update on Friday or Saturday. Sorry about that. Like I've said, the end of the school year is always packed, but I promise that two weekends from now, should be like May 30, I will have this site updated. Seriously. There will be at least one new review, because, I am happy to announce, I indeed bought the Nikon Coolpix 4300! :) I am very happy with it so far-the quality is incredible for a 4 megapixel camera, the zoom ain't bad either, and the controls are smooth. Also, it is very small–only a little bigger than the Logitech MX700 mouse that I recently reviewed. I'll be getting that Nikon review up soon, and I'll have some cool pictures in it, hopefully, as I am going on a short vacation for the Memorial Day weekend which will hopefully give me plenty of chances for some great pictures. Check out the news column, if you haven't, while you are at it, because the new processors from IBM are going to be awesome. I am in the process of working through CSS for the site, which would be REALLY cool. Keep coming back, and thanks for all the support of the site! :)

Update-Saturday, May 10, 2003 11:45 P.M.

Well I didn't lie-the review of the Logitech MX700 Wireless Mouse is up, and there are some good announcements to make! As you can tell by the News bar, there is new happenings at Apple. For instance, the new iPod is sleeker, lighter, and more versatile than the original. Also, the Music Store is integrated into iTunes 4, and is very cool. In addition, the new eMacs are faster than the original, and add some new features. Check out www.apple.com for all this cool stuff.

Update-Saturday, May 10, 2003 4:10 P.M.

Two full weeks without an update...I'm sorry about that-but truthfully I've been very swamped lately, with several projects going on in school, lots of homework, and the rushed feeling associated with the end of school. Why is it that in the last few weeks of school all teachers try to cram everything they didn't teach into something we can understand? Is it lack of time for the teachers, or too big a curriculum? Well, it's impossible to know, and I don't really care, but my point is that I have had little time for doing anything for the site. However, things will start being updated often again, as summer comes, and then hopefully this site will become as big as I'd like it to be-and hopefully big enough to be able to get companies to send me their products for reviews, which is how almost all reviews work, for most big sites. Well it's obviously not there yet for us, but we'll keep trying. Update on the DSL situation, is that I have finally persuaded my parents to give it a shot. Sprint DSL looks tasty in our area, and I think that's what we'll go with instead of the(unreliable and Time Warner-affiliated) cable broadband service we could choose. Later tonight I'll post a review of the Logitech MX700 mouse, which I've been using for more than a week now, and am very impressed with. Also, I am pretty solild in my decision on what digital camera to purchase, which I've been considering for a few months, okay, honestly a few years. I've decided finally that the Nikon Coolpix 4300 is right for me. Expensive? Yeah, but I've been saving for a while. I'm also considering the Canon Powershot G3, and even some other Coolpix cameras. We'll see how it turns out...

Update-Friday, April 25, 2003 8:15 P.M.

Another long week without any updates at all. And, I am very sorry for this, especially to those of you who have been visiting this site often due to my promise of consistently new content. Well, this promise still holds true, just keep in mind that I never, ever planned to put new articles and reviews up every day. There is a new article up about filesharing, and you can go to read it here. Later tonight(as in early Saturday morning), I may update the site again, as I have a strange urge to post a review of software. There's an interesting little freeware program that I think would be of great help to many of you out there...so I may review this, or at least take a good look at it. Also, in the coming days and weeks, I will be giving you all updates on my(as of yet) futile attempts to get DSL instead of this terrible 56k modem connection I'm using now. If I did get DSL, then I could proceed with my plans to host this site on an independent server, as well as move forth with my plans for a radio show beginning this summer(more on that as it comes, but that is very tentative, keep this in mind).

Update-Saturday, April 19, 2003 2:05 A.M.

Sorry, everyone, that it's been almost exactly a week since I updated this, but lately I have not had a lot of time, and have been tired. That's changing, as I have a 4 day weekend due to Easter! Apple reported their second quarter earnings and statistics Thursday, and 42% of the computers they shipped were notebooks, the highest for any quarter Apple's ever had. 256,000 iMacs were shipped. Sales of Powerbooks surged to 166,000. The 12" Powerbook was the most popular Powerbook, with 82,000 units sold. Powermac G4s were 156,000 units, including servers. 78,000 iPods were shipped, almost half of which were Windows units. Apple Retail Store revenues were $135 million. What does this mean? Well, basically that Apple's sales are in a slump. So is the entire industry, but Apple needs to really churn some cash if its going to buy Universal Music like they plan to.

Update-Saturday, April 12, 2003 2:05 A.M.

I added the Safari v60 Review that I said I would. Also, I updated the text on every page to this darker green color, in contrast to what the color used to be. It is much easier on the eyes, in my opinion, and that was one of the main complaints about the page that I was getting. Now, its better, so we can all rejoice for our eyes, may they last us another year! :-)

Update–Friday, April 11, 2003 6:15 P.M.

Well, I added a new article, dealing with Saddam. Go to read it here. Yesterday I never had time to get that Safari review up, 'cause I had homework, but later tonight I will make sure and get that up, because it is very good for those of you wondering what the strengths of Safari are. More later!

Update–Thursday, April 10, 2003 7:45 P.M.

I added a review of Apple's new 12 inch Powerbook. In addition, I added two new links, and revised the site, fixing a few simple bugs such as the "Home" button on the nav bar not working(on any of the pages). Also, later tonight I'll be adding an old review I did of Safari v60, which is still valid since Apple hasn't updated Safari(publicly) yet. I'll be back later!

Update–Wednesday, April 9, 2003 11:00 P.M.

Well, this page is finally up! I've not had very much time to work on it lately, but I got some time tonight, so I'm putting it up, with a cool review(on the Reviews page) of Pocket Tanks, one of the neatest(did I just say neat...oh, man...) shareware games I've ever played, as well as one of my usually strong opinions to feed your mind on the Articles page. In addition, if you feel like you've reached the bottom of the internet bottle, and that there just isn't much more to drink, then take a look at the links page, where I have put together some informative and useful places you may never have even heard of. Learn something every day!

In Palm related news: Palm has officially acquired Handspring! Handspring and all its assets now belong to the Palm Solutions Group. In addition, and just as big of news, the Palm Solutions group has spun off PalmSource as a separate company. PalmSource is the division, now company, that makes the Palm OS. They are one of the most vital points in the Palm industry. Unfortunately, Palm has pulled the press release from their web site, no doubt from viewing demand, so you can find more about it here

Very cool! IBM has recently confirmed that their new PPC 970 microprocessor will be able to "work on Apple platforms". You can find the article which references it here. As many Mac fans have known for some time, the PPC 970 has long been designated as the successor to the aging PowerPC G4 processors currently in all Apple computers(with the notable exception of the iBook). Likely, the switch to the PPC 970 will come with an announcement at the WWDC(World Wide Developers Conference), which Apple is going to be previewing the next version of Mac OS X, 10.3 "Panther", at. It could also likely come this fall. These new chips are 64-bit, and faster than the Pentium 4 to boot! Exciting!
Apple has announce the Apple Music Store, on the 28th, and in the first week it sold over 1 million songs. Also, the new eMacs are here, and they start at only $799 for an 800 mhz G4. Also, a little more will get you 1 Ghz of power, and a Superdrive that burns DVDs at a much faster-than-original 4x. Very, very cool.
Apple has announced very quietly to certain news sites that they are going to hold a "special event" on April 28th. For those of you who have long lost track of time, that's on Monday! Then, it was picked up by rumor sites that Apple is to hold an in-store event at the Apple Store on May 2nd, which is next Friday. This is likely to show off whatever new products Apple will presumably introduce on Monday. QTC will cover in-depth the new products and/or services, and bring it to you right here.
This from Think Secret: Apple seems to be planning to set up a retail program at Best Buy, a retailer they have had a lot of trouble with in the past. Back in the early days of the multicolored CRT iMacs were being sold, Apple got Best Buy to sign a contract that make Best Buy purchase packs of 5(one of each color) of the iMacs, and obviously some colors were more popular than others, creating a selling problem for Best Buy. Since then, Best Buy has been Mac-free, unfortunately, but now it seems that they will go back to Mac. The article at Think Secret can be found here.
This I just heard from The Screen Savers - Apple is reportedly negotiating a deal to buy Universal Music . If it happened, the deal would be worth about 6 billion dollars, and Apple would definetly solidify its place in the computer industry as the media-computer company. This is very exciting, and if we hear anymore, we'll report it.
Sunday, Apple released three very important professional applications: Shake 3, Final Cut Pro 4, and DVD Studio Pro. Apple now essentially controls the professional video market, because these three applications are so important to the movie industry. Cool!
Apple is reportedly making deals with recordlabelsapparently, four out of the five really "big" ones. This has many believing that Apple is going to soon be rolling out a pay-per-song, legal downloadable music service, integrated with iTunes. Is this truly going to happen? We will have to wait and see. More about it as it comes...

Apple v64 of Safari Beta has been internally released...I've actually got a running copy on my machine. Unfortunately, I can't provide the link because Apple doesn't want those who did get their hands on it letting other people have it. Oh, well. Since Apple hasn't updated Safari again since v60(publically), I am figuring the next version will be final version 1.0.
