Chapter 2

“So, are you going to tell me where you are going?” Mark yelled.

“I’m just going Christmas shopping, Mark. I’ll be back in a few hours.” Yon said trying to sound innocent.

“Yeah? Where? When are you going to come back!? You know what. Never mind! I’ll meet you for lunch! 1:00 at Jennings’s! Be there or you have some explaining to do.”

“But, Mark! I want to get the shopping done! If you only give me 2 hours how can I get it done?”

“I don’t care how, Yonni! Just do it! And if you don’t meet me there, then you can kiss this whole relationship good-bye! Got it!?”

Yonni looked at him conclusively. “No.”

“What did you just say?” Mark said shocked.

“I said, no...” this time her voice quavered.

“No..” Mark repeated sensing her unease.

“I want more time.”

His face went 20 shades of red in 2 seconds. “More time!!!?” He grabbed her arm. “What do you mean more time? I let you go out, I bring money into both of our houses. I take care of you, and this is how you repay me...by running out to go shopping when I ask to take you to lunch?!”

“But you said...”

“What I said!!! Never mind what I said!” He slapped her across the face allowing her to fall from his grip. “1:00 at Jennings’s. BE there...” He grabbed his keys and left the house.

Yonni listed as to the car start up and leave the driveway.

She held a hand to her face, hot and sore. Yon stood and looked in the mirror. It was red and discoloured. She had to meet Matt in 15 minutes. That would leave her enough time to get there. She didn’t have anytime to put on tons of make-up.

Yon sighed and grabbed her bag. She would have to put her hair down around her face and hope it didn’t get anymore bruised than it was now.

“Hey, Yonni. Are you okay?” Matt asked raising himself from his seat.

She smiled awkwardly. “Yeah, I’m fine. Just had to get Mark to let me go out.” She chuckled mindlessly.

“He doesn’t let you go out?”

“Well, yeah. But sometimes he just feels protective. He loves me in his own way, he’s just knew to this and doesn’t know how to show it.”

“Yeah, right. Anyway, what do you want to eat. The food here is great.”

Yon looked at the menu. “MATT! This place is so expensive! I can’t let you buy me lunch here!”

He laughed. “It’s okay. I have lot’s of money, besides, it isn’t really me paying, it is a mix between Vince McMahon, and Jeff.” He shook his head.

“Well, I understand the Vince thing, he pays you.” Matt nodded, eyes lit. “But how is Jeff paying for it?”

“Ah..the pleasures of being a big brother. I raided his wallet, cause I just made my last payment on my boat and I didn’t really have enough money for lunch so I took a few twenties out of it.”

She raised her eyebrow. “Well, whatever. But I still feel bad about this.”

“Don’t. If it makes you feel better you can get something little, but I still want you to have a nice lunch.”

“Well, Mark said I have to go to lunch with him so, I guess I could have the chicken caesar.”

Matt smiled. “Good, make that two. I love caesar salads.”

Yonni smiled, this day was really starting to look up.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“You really have had an interesting life.” Matt replied after Yonni had finished telling him all about everything.
“Yeah, I guess so. My mother always said I should have a man who could always be there for me, and Mark can. And I love him, he loves me too. As I said before, he just really doesn’t know how to show it.”
Matt smiled half-heartedly. He still shouldn’t hit her. She shouldn’t allow it either.
“Well, I guess maybe I should let you go. It is 1:30 and I have to be back at the house by...”
“1:30!!! You are kidding!!!”
Matt looked at her wide eyed. “No, why?”
“I had to meet Mark at 1:00 for lunch at Jennings’s and oh man, he’s going to kill me!”
“Why? You are only a half hour late.”
“You don’t know Mark. If he knew I was with you he’d kill me. Literally. And he told me if I wasn’t on time...well never mind. I have to go. I am so sorry to run out like this but...”
“Well, I have seen some pretty weird things, but my girlfriend having lunch with one of the worst wrestlers ever takes the cake. Blowing me off for Matt Hardy?!!”
The look on Yonni’s face was one of pure horror. She was trembling, and the blood was gone from her face leaving her looking somewhat ghostly.
“M..Mark! I, uh, I was just leaving and...”
“Leaving from what!!!?”
She looked on at the many people who had stopped eating their food to watch the interaction. Surely he wouldn’t touch her in front off all these people.
“I was just having a quick lunch...”
“But you were going to meet me for lunch! I get to Jennings’s and wait for 25 minutes, decide to go see where you are, I drive down the road for 5 minutes and see you sitting with Matt Hardy doing what? EATING LUNCH!!!” He screamed.
“Mark please...don’t yell. Let’s talk about this later. Not here..in public.”
“We will talk about this when I want to talk about it! Who are you to tell me what to do!?” He advanced on her, and started to raise his hand. Much to Yonni’s horror Matt stood and blocked his arm.
“Didn’t anyone ever tell you not to hit a lady?”
“As if it were any of your business, but you call that-” he pointed at Yon. “A lady?”
“Matt, please.” She leaned over to him and whispered. “Don’t make this worse for me.”
Matt looked sad. But Mark was right. He couldn’t do anything.
“Come on, Yon. We will...discuss...this at home...” He said the word discuss as if he hadn’t meant it. As if he were replacing it for another word. And Matt’s blood ran cold when he thought about what he might do to her.
Mark grabbed Yonni’s arm and dragged her out of the restaurant, and past the many people sitting shaking their head’s.
“Bye, Yonni. See you around.”
She smiled slightly.
Mark turned to face him for just a second, mumbled something and left. Matt wasn’t sure what he had said, but it sounded a lot like, ‘that’s what you think.’
