Chapter 14
Matt’s heart stopped. He froze were he was standing. The show! WWF! He closed his eyes trying to think of something to say. He thought desperately because he could feel Jessica’s eyes on him.
Matt decided to ask the first thing that popped into his mind. He looked up at Jessica, “Wrestling? Is that really your thing?” Matt asked trying to shrug it off.
Jessica smiled shrugging, “I dunno maybe big, sweaty guys in tights trying to kill each, is something I could get into.” She said giggling. Matt’s heart sank. Was that really what she thought about wrestling? Was that what Jessica thought about something he loved and worked so hard at everyday. He tried to appear unaffected. Matt didn’t know what to say to her. He shrugged shaking his head. He wanted to be happy tonight not confused or upset he would try not to let it get to him.
Matt would have to think of some way to talk her out of going, or else he would be lost without her.
Jessica giggled. “Matt you look like you just saw a ghost, your turning white, are you okay?” Jessica asked coming to Matt, and touching his cheek. Matt shook his head. Jessica smiled, “I’m gonna get you some water anyways. You sit down, you’re starting to scare me!” Jessica said going to the refrigerator.
Matt went to the kitchen table and sat down. Matt rubbed his head, his head ache was coming back. He closed his eyes, how could Jessica come to the show? If she went she would see him. He had to do something to make sure she didn’t go to that show! But what? Matt tried so hard to think, but this was bothering him, and it was so hard for Matt to think with Jessica being so near to him. He hated lying to anyone, and he hated lying to her especially.
Jessica poured Matt some water and came to his side setting the glass on the table in front of him. Matt looked up at it, and then grinned up at her. She smiled sitting down next to him. Matt took the glass and drank some casually, he was trying think of something to say to her. Matt could fell Jessica’s eyes on him.
His heart hurt almost as much as his head. Matt swallowed hard and finally looked up at her as she spoke touching his arm.
“Matt are you sure your okay? You’re acting funny again.... like you were earlier last night. Is something bothering you?” Jessica asked looking curiously into Matt’s eyes. Matt wanted to tell her the whole truth, but he just couldn’t get himself to.
Matt shook his head. “No, I’m fine, I’ll be okay, my head just hurts a little that’s all...” Matt said softly letting his voice trail away as Jessica stared skeptically at him. Matt was trying very hard to act like he was okay, he didn’t want to be upset or mad. All Matt wanted was to be with her, to hold her, and feel like the world was gone. That it only revolved around them.
Jessica shrugged, “Matt can I ask you something, just because when I was with my friends this afternoon the question came up and I really didn’t know what to tell them…” Jessica asked as Matt interrupted her.
“What question?” Matt asked feeling better now...he had a feeling about what she was going to ask him, and he knew what he was gonna say. She looked down and them back to Matt. Matt couldn’t help but smile.
“Well, I mean, not to rush anything, but......well, what.....what are we?” Jessica asked looking so cute. She stared at Matt, who was loving her confused look. He smiled.
“Well I dunno...” Matt started saying being interrupted by Jessica.
“I mean are we like an us, together, or are we just you and me?” Jessica asked looking very lost.
Matt couldn’t help but laugh. Jessica watching him.
“Wait, Jessie lemme see if I understand your question okay?” Matt asked smiling. “You want to know if were going out right?” Matt asked standing as he looked down at her. Matt watched as she stared off into space somewhere and seemed to be trying to figure out what to say.
Then she looked up at him shaking her head. She stood and said, “Yeah Matt, I mean what are we?” She asked staring at him.
Matt smiled. “What do you want us to be?” Matt asked trying to mess with hera little bit.
Jessica looked down, “I....I dunno....” Jessica said trailing off.
Matt decided not drive her crazy any longer. He took a step closer to her and slid his arms around her, touching her chin and lifting it so she was looking at him.
“Jessie, you know, just tell me what you want....” Matt whispered smiling at her. She looked as if she was going to cry. She shook her head hugging him as she buried her face against his shirt. Matt held her waiting for her to answer. She clung to him not speaking.
Matt almost didn’t hear her when she finally spoke. “You.........” Jessica said in weak whisper. She looked up and met his eyes. Matt watched as her eyes sparkled back into his.
He smiled, “Well then I suppose there’s only one thing to do....” Matt said letting go of her and taking her tiny hands in his big ones. Matt then met Jessica’s stare. Matt grinned at her whispering, “Jessie will you go out with me!?” Matt asked as he saw tears appear in the corners of her big blue eyes. He let go of her hands.
Then Matt touched her cheek wiping the tears tenderly away. Jessica didn’t answer, she just wrapped her arms around Matt’s neck and kissed him.
Matt finally pulled away and looked at her. “Can I take that as a yes?” Matt asked as she giggled.
“Of course!?” Jessica said sighing as she hugged him.
Just then the timer on the oven went off. Matt swore, as Jessica left his hold and went over to the stove. She carefully took the tasty looking chicken out of the oven.
Matt came to the counter next to her, “Jessie that looks so delicious!” Matt said smiling as he kissed her cheek.
“Thank you!” Jessica said smiling at him.
“Do you need any help?” Matt asked as Jessica started to cut into the chicken.
“No!” Jessica said protesting. “You go sit down, and relax!” Jessica said kissing his cheek and shoving him as hard as she could in the direction out of the kitchen. Matt laughed and did as he was told.
The dinner that Jessica had made was very good. It was the best meal that Matt had, had in a long time. He enjoyed it very much- he could get very used to it! After they were finished eating Matt insisted on helping Jessica do the dishes. Once the dishes were done they stood in the kitchen relaxing. Matt sipped his wine, as
Jessica watched him.
“What do ya wanna do?” Jessica asked giggling at the faces Matt was making at her.
Matt shrugged standing as he walked to her. “Whatever you wanna do....” Matt replied watching Jessica’s eye’s light up with excitement.
She sighed looking around. “How about we go for that walk on the beach, its dark and the water will look incredible with that moon!” Jessica said looking out the window.
Matt shrugged, “Sounds good to me!” He said smiling at her.
Matt followed Jessica to the back yard and out to the beach behind the house. The view and the water was incredible. The moon was high above and Matt couldn’t help but make a wish, he wished to be happy, and to stay with Jessica.
Once on the beach Matt watched as Jessica kicked off her sandals, and skipped ahead of him laughing. Matt chuckled smiling to himself. He was still dumbstruck at how beautiful and sexy she was, yet sweet at the same time!
“Hey wait up!” Matt called after her, but Jessica was running now. Matt was confused but he followed.
Down the beach by the surf was a dock with a life house station above it. Jessica ran disappearing inside. Matt wasn’t sure what exactly she was up to, but he had a feeling he was gonna like it. Matt snickered. Then he walked up the steps and took a breath, opening the life house door. Matt didn’t enter he just tried to get his eyes to adjust to darkness in the room in front of him. He couldn’t see the moon anymore so it was harder to see things.
“Jessie?” Matt asked trying to see inside the room. Matt got no answer. He sighed as he took a step into the room. Matt was trying to feel around for a light switch, when he didn’t find one he rubbed his head, “Jessie...where are you?” Matt asked holding his breathe. No answer. He could see a bit better now, his eyes were slowly adjusting to the darkness.
Suddenly Matt heard a noise. He turned to see a figure in the open door way. Matt didn’t have to look twice to see that it was Jessica’s sparkling eyes looking at him in the darkness. Her eyes seemed to glow.
“Jessie,” Matt started to say as Jessica shook her head making Matt stop speaking. Matt stared at her confused in the dark. Matt totally tensed as she came walking toward him slowly. He took a quick deep breath and continued to watch her. She stopped about two or three inches away from him and met his eyes.
Matt realized then that there was a light on outside the doorway now. Jessica must have turned it on or something. It was impossible for Matt to think straight when she was this close to him. Matt opened his mouth to speak but Jessica touched her fingertips to his lips to keep him silent. Matt shivered as she let her fingertips move to his cheek and then slowly down his neck. Once she had done that, she continued down his shirt-covered shoulder, moving downward toward his chest. Her fingers moved over his chest making it seem hard for Matt to breathe. He couldn’t move or speak, he just concentrated on how good this felt, all he wanted to do was get to the kissing part.
Matt was totally transfixed on her eyes, he didn’t dare take his eyes away from hers. He didn’t want to. Jessica slowly wrapped her arms around Matt’s neck and moved her face in closer to his. Matt finally found himself moving. He slid his arms around her pulling her closer and tighter to him.
Then came the part Matt was waiting for.....the kiss. Matt leaned in and down and kissed Jessica’s lips very lightly. He started with the bottom lip, he ran kisses across it then moving to the top. He wasn’t rushing anything.
Finally Jessica was kissing him back. The kisses were slow at first but they steadily became more needy. The kiss gradually intensified, and Matt knew somewhere from within himself that if he didn’t stop this kiss soon, he wasn’t sure how far things could go before he could. He knew they were both close to their breaking points. Matt wasn’t strong enough or the type of guy able to cross that line and stop himself before he did something he would regret. Matt let the kiss go for a moment and them slowly pulled away, making Jessica gasp and groan softly. She leaned over to continue kissing him as Matt whispered against her lips, “Jessie.... we
can’t....” Matt said being interrupted. J
Jessica mumbled against his lips, “Why?” Jessica asked as she started at kiss him again. Matt pulled back again gently.
“You know why!” Matt whispered.
“Matt tell me?” Jessica insisted as Matt watched her eyes.
Matt sighed, then grinned at her. “Because don’t think I could control what would happen....” Matt smiled as he saw Jessica’s eyes widen obviously in surprise.
“Matt why do you have to control what would happen?” Jessica asked pausing. “Can’t you just let whatever happens happen?” She asked touching his cheek gently. She smiled sweetly at him, sensing his confusion.
Matt sighed. He shrugged. “I dunno.” Matt whispered as Jessica hugged him.
