Chapter 2

Jason tapped his fingers on the steering wheel along with the beat to the music.

“You’re quiet,” he said as he looked over at Adam.

“I’m just thinking,” Adam said.

“About what?” Jason asked.

“Nothing really, just random stuff,” Adam lied. He was really debating whether to tell him that he and Megan had had a relationship. He decided against it, knowing how protective he was of Megan.

“Are you sure nothings wrong?” Jason asked a few minutes later, “You’re usually not this quiet.”

‘Nothings wrong,” Adam said, “Just thinking.” Jason nodded as he continued to hum along to the music. Adam looked at his friend and felt a pang of guilt; he hated keeping things from his friend. He sighed, but what else was he supposed to do?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*FLASHBACK*~~~~~~~
“Are you sure nothing’s wrong?” Jason asked as he looked at his friend sitting on the floor, “You’re quiet and not even watching this match.”
“Sorry, I’m just thinking,” Adam said as he looked at the screen, not even realizing they were watching wrestling. Adam was still thinking about the conversation he had earlier with Megan.
“Ok,” Jason said, “I think I’m going to go to sleep, night Adam.”
“Night,” Adam said as he lied back on his sleeping bag. 5 minutes later Adam could hear Jason snoring. Adam sighed, as he stood up, not able to sleep. He made his way down the stairs.
“What are you doing up?” he asked as he walked into the living room seeing Megan sitting there in a pair of Jason’s boxers and a tank top, flipping through channels.
“Couldn’t sleep, you?” she asked.
“Same,” he said as he sat next to her on the couch. He cleared his throat, “Meg, about what I said earlier…”
“It’s ok,” she interrupted, “I understand.”
“That’s not it,” he said, “I do find you attractive, I think you are incredibly good looking, and if you weren’t Jason’s cousin it’d be different…”
“But I am,” she interrupted.
“I know,” he said, “And you know how protective of you he is. He’d never let me date you.”
“We wouldn’t need to tell him,” Meg suggested.
“He’s my best friend and your cousin Meg,” Adam said, “he’d find out.”
“Yeah,” Meg said, “Maybe we can see each other secretly and date other people, that way he doesn’t find out.”
“It’s so dishonest,” he said, “How can we keep something like that from him.”
“I don’t know,” Megan said as she inched closer to him and climbed to her knees, “but we can figure that out later.” Her lips met Adam’s; he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her passionately back. He knew this could ruin his friendship with Jason, he knew this betrayed all trust between the two, but at that moment he didn’t care. All he wanted was to be holding and kissing Megan.
