Chapter 11
“So Adam, you’re a wrestler,” Rob said halfway through the meal.
“Yes, with the WWF,” Adam said with a smile and mouthful of food.
“That’s great,” Rob said, “I guess it must make your relationship hard though.”
“Nah,” Adam answered taking a bite of his steak, “That’s why Meggy decided to travel with me.”
“I thought she came because her cousin’s a wrestler and she wanted to spend time with him?” Rachel questioned.
“We try to keep our relationship very quiet,” Adam answered, “you know, all the publicity and stuff makes a relationship difficult.”
“Yes, of course,” Rob said.
“So Meg, what have you been up to?” Rachel asked.
“Oh you know, just traveling now,” she said, “What about you?”
“Well Rob is taking me to Paris next month,” Rachel said with a smile.
“He is?” Megan asked shocked.
“Well, you know,” Rob said explaining himself, “I would have taken you when we we’re dating, but we were still in college and a trip like that costs a lot of money…”
“You don’t have to explain,” Megan interrupted, “I just got beeped, I’ll be back in a minute. Excuse me.”
Adam watched Megan stand up and walk over to the payphones.
“I’m going to go to the lady’s room,” Rachel said standing up.
“You’re a lucky man,” Rob said once Rachel was out of listening range.
“Yeah?” Adam asked.
“I mean Megan looks amazing,” Rob said, “I regret ever breaking up with her now.”
“What about Rachel?” Adam questioned, “She seems like a nice girl.”
“She’s alright, but she’s no Megan,” he said, “Rachel is kind of a bumbling airhead if you haven’t noticed.”
“I didn’t notice,” Adam said sarcastically.
“But Meg is amazing,” Rob said, “Smart, beautiful, fun, don’t let go of her man.”
“Thanks man,” Adam said smiling, “But I don’t plan on it.”
“I wish I knew that a year and a half ago,” Rob said.
“I’m back,” Rachel said in a sing song voice as she sat down.
“Goodie,” Adam said quietly.
“Hey Adam,” Megan said coming up behind him, “We’ve got to go, that was Jay.”
“What’s wrong?” Adam asked.
“I’ll tell you on the way,” Megan said quickly, “It was great seeing you two. Next time I’m in New York I’ll give you a call.”
“It was great seeing you hun,” Rachel said giving her a hug.
“Have a good time in Paris,” Megan said.
“I’ll send you a postcard,” Rachel said cheerfully.
“Yeah, do that,” Megan answered.
“Bye Meg, it was great seeing you,” Rob said giving her a quick kiss on the cheek.
“Bye Rob,” she said.
“Nice meeting both of you,” Adam said smiling and shaking their hands.
“Remember what I said man,” Rob said to Adam.
“Yeah, I will,” Adam answered, “Thanks.”

Megan and Adam stepped out of the building, it was now raining.
“What happened, is Jay ok?” Adam asked.
“Oh yeah,” Meg said shrugging, “No one even called, I just needed to get out of there.”
Adam laughed, “You are something else Meg.”
“Do you wanna walk or call a cab?” she asked.
“Let’s just walk,” he said as they started for the hotel 4 blocks away in the pouring rain.
