Chapter 1

Lifting up her sunglasses, Alison looked at the ocean. The sun was shining, the scent of salt water and sunscreen surrounded her, and there were two gorgeous blonds in the water.

“Can you believe we’ve been here 3 hours and I still haven’t met a guy!” A voice complained next to her, she looked over at her best friend Maxine and giggled.

“Aly!” her friend demanded, “I’m serious, I need to meet a guy on vacation and we have less than two weeks here!”

“Max, chill,” Alison said, “We’ve only been at the beach for ½ an hour!”

“You’re right. Did you notice those two hunks in the water?” Maxine asked as she pointed out the two guys Alison had been checking out and adjusted her curly brown hair.

“Notice?” Alison replied, putting her sunglasses back over her eyes, “I’ve been drooling over them since we got here!”

Max laughed as she stood up and brushed some sand off her red bikini before she announced she was going to grab a snack, “you want?”

Alison shook her head as her friend walked off and once again focused on the two blonds. She saw one swim to shore and walk towards the snack bar. She watched the other still in the water, just hanging out. Noticing the guy wasn’t paying much attention she stifled a laugh as a huge wave broke right over his head. After a minute or so she couldn’t spot the blonde anymore, she looked over at the lifeguard who was blowing his whistle at some kids. She stood up and looked into the ocean, scanning all the areas he could have gone. When she noticed long blond hair bobbing in the water, a wave of panic swept over her, then she went running in to the water and dove in once she was knee deep. She swam as hard as she could, fighting waves the whole way until she reached the guy. Aly prayed he’d be ok as she flipped his unconscious body over. She grabbed him under his armpits and started kicking to shore. Alison heard whistles blowing as she realized the lifeguards finally noticed. “A few more yards,” she kept telling herself as she swam the gorgeous blonde in. Once she reached knee-deep water a lifeguard was waiting to help her drag the blond out.

“Thank God you noticed,” the lifeguard kept saying as he grabbed one arm and Aly grabbed the other and dragged the guy onto the beach. Alison collapsed in exhaustion.

“Alison! Aly!” She heard Maxine calling as she pushed herself through the crowd that had gathered, Max threw her arms around her friend, “are you okay?”

“I’m fine,” Alison said as she stood up and caught her breath. Alison saw the blondes friend run through the crowd.

“Jay!” he called as he ran up next to his friend and looked at the lifeguard, “Will he be ok?”

“He’s breathing on his own, he’ll be fine,” said the lifeguard as the friend let out a sigh of relief, as the lifeguard went on, “you should thank her,” the lifeguard said pointing to Aly, “she’s the one who saw him go under and went in after him.”

The friend stared in awe at Aly, who was a short, thin girl. “You?” the friend sputtered out, “You saved Jay? Wow!”

“Yeah, wow,” Aly said still feeling exhausted, “When he comes to, tell him I hope he’s ok.” With that she went to her spot, picked up her towel and beach bag, and walked back to the resort. ~~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~

People at the resort were still talking about the daring rescue made by the “little blonde chick”. Alison was still in shock she was able to save the buff, good-looking blonde. As she stood down the hall from her room to get a soda a finger tapped her on the shoulder.

“Hey, we haven’t formally been introduced,” a male voice said. She turned quickly and realized she was looking at the man she had rescued.

“Hey,” she said with a smile, “How you feeling?”

“Good. Very good actually,” he answered before holding out his hand, “Jason Reso, everyone calls me Jay.”

“Alison Somber, Aly,” she replied shaking his hand, in disbelief at how incredibly good looking this guy was.

“So you’re the one who saved my life?” Jason asked smiling his arms folded in front of him

“Yup,” she said as she took a sip of her soda, “Don’t let your male pride hurt too much though. That’s what 4 years of varsity swimming and lifeguard training can do for ya.”

Jay laughed, he was amazed how beautiful this girl was, “Well, I’m usually a pretty good swimmer, I just got caught off guard and hit my head when the wave pushed me under. I was lucky you saw me.”

“Oh,” Aly said looking into his blue eyes, her tan cheeks turning red, “It helped I had been watching you for a while.”

Jay laughed, “That’s good to know. I was wondering since you did save my life and all if you would go out with me for dinner tonight?”

“Sure,” she sputtered out, shocked, “Definitely.”

“Cool,” Jason said as he ran a hand through his long blond hair and smiled, “I’ll see you in the lobby about 7?”

“Sure,” Alison said, “7’s great.”

“Awesome! See you tonight,” he started to walk away and turned around, “and thanks again for… well… saving me.” With that he turned and walked down the hall.

“Wow,” was all she could say. ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~

Aly walked into her hotel room to see Maxine modeling in front of the mirror. “I like that dress,” Aly said as she sat on her bed and admired her friend’s sundress, “What’s the occasion?”

“Actually,” Max said, “I wanted to talk to you about that. I know we were supposed to have dinner together tonight, but I got asked out, he said he could bring his friend for you.”

“That’s ok,” Aly told her friend smiling, “I have plans for tonight.”

“Do you?” Max said raising an eyebrow, “Do tell!”

“Remember the guy I saved at the beach?” Aly asked, Max nodded, “Well he asked me out for tonight.”

“Wow that’s great!” Max exclaimed, “and it works out so well!”

“How so?” Aly asked as she rummaged through her suitcase.

“His friend Adam’s the one who asked me out for tonight!” Max said happily as she put on her sandals.
