Telstra charges $1,925 for equivalent services, OzEmail $1,111 and Optus $1,626. These charges skyrocket if your website is successful and attracts good traffic because the three carriers charge for the data transferred by your visitors when it exceeds a monthly limit. A small business website can easily generate a gigabyte (1,000 megabytes) of data traffic a month, which would take two-year costs to $4,585 with Telstra, $4,111 with OzEmail and $4,818.30 with Optus. If your website is highly successful and receives 2.5GB of traffic, those figures jump to $12,485 (Telstra), $13,111 (OzEmail) and $11,658 (Optus). But since these traffic flows incur no extra charges in the package, Mr Graudins found in this case, from US company DZones his two-year cost remains at $397.20. ``And this is no Dodgy Brothers operation," he said. ``The cheaper hosting is excellent quality and its network operations centre is run by Alabanza, one of the world's largest and most reputable hosting companies."
