Biography
Why introduce myself?
- Considering you came all this way, you must already know me, whether that
be intimately or just as a friend!
The reason is simple: This web page is purely a school assignment, so please
bear with me on this!
My name is Bjørn Tore Gjerden and I come from a small place called Svarstad in Lardal deep within the forests of Vestfold, Norway. As many of you out there know it is not the belly button of the world, however, it sure is a strategic focal point given that it has eight Norwegian cities within it's reach, only 45 min. away by car.

After Junior College or as we call it, gymnasium, I took to the road and headed up north to Harstad where I attended "Befalsskolen for Infanteriet I Nord-Norge" (Officer training school for the Norwegian Infantry). After the completed training I chose to go to Oslo and "Hans Majestet Kongens Garde" (His Majesty the Kings Guard). |
As my friend Tom and I grew impatient with our existence, we decided to go and seek happiness elsewhere, -in the States. And boy did we find it! We were able to establish to the world, at least to California State University Northridge, what a Norwegian Tag Team can accomplish when given the opportunity and the proper incentives.
In California I met the love
of my life, Chiara, which convinced me to study in Amsterdam, where I had
to come up with totally different hobbies than telemark skiing and fly fishing,
as mountains and lakes are in scarce supplies in the low lands. But then again,
who said stamp collecting is "out".
After finishing the first two years at Amsterdam School of Business I went on
an exchange program to the European
School of Economics Milan (Universitá privata di Economia, Finanza
e Management).
Following those months I went back to Amsterdam to finish my studies, where I am to this day trying to figure out why anyone would ever call their child Jos, Co, or Wim for that matter.
