Feelings and symptoms of Mania:

energetic, speedy, pressured, can't be still, talking very fast, financially irresponsible, need little food, insightful, quick movements, hyperactive, need to do something, pressurized speech, compulsive buying, need little sleep, brilliant, wonderful, "know-it-all", very happy, optimistic, authoritarian, grandiose, confident, perceptive, alert, creative, work very hard, overenthusiastic, inflated self-concept, overtly friendly, excessive, loud laughter and giggling, full of fun, childish socially unacceptable behavior, easily infatuated, argumentative, aggressive, haughty, racing thoughts, dangerous, cruel, poor judgment, impulsive,impatient, inability to trust others, inability to calm down, suggestible, happy and sad at the same time, exalted, euphoric, domineering, invincible, super aware, clear, sharpened thinking, more intelligent speech, able to accomplish a great deal, preoccupied with self, outgoing, life of the party, wild dancing, live in a fantasy world, poor social interactions, bizarre behavior, incraesed interest in sex, verbally abusive, obnoxious, arrogant, confused thoughts, irresponsible, rapid, unpredictable emotional changes, destructive to self, others, boisterous,hallucinations, inability to concentrate, "flight of ideas", feeling driven (p.37)

Aspects of Mania that people enjoy:

happiness
super-sensitive senses
feeling smart
excessive energy
unleashed abilities
sociability
self-confidence
being alert mentally
feeling free
increase in synchronicity
relief from depression
being able to do difficult things with very little effort
feeling like nothing can go wrong
establishing friendships that get shelved during depression
feeling like I am floating in a sea of glass
full of good feelings
feeling attractive
euphoria
productivity
creative, free-flowing ideas
feeling powerful
feeling better than everyone else
analytical
intuitive
lose all inhibitions
weight loss
feels like everybody loves me and I love everybody(p.38)

Negative aspects of Mania:

detrimental effect on relationships
embarrassment to self, family, and friends
physical wear and tear on the body
poor judgment
incoherence
feeling of failing others
disruptive behavior
miss school
others to be scared
lack of control
become easily confused
inappropriate lusting
ignore responsibility
lack of sleep
professional damage
kleptomania
get into trouble
being called unreasonable
loss of support
not knowing how much is too much
losing your thoughts
hospitalization
paranoia
carelessness with relationships
anesthetized emotions
offense to others
financial crisis
not knowing what is real
stigmatization
feelings of anger, rage
carelessness with driving
not to take good care of yourself
lost careers
be avoided
being called weird
being sick and not knowing it (p.39)

Early warning signs of mania:

insomnia
surges of energy
flight of ideas
writing pressure
sleeping much less
others seem slow
speech pressure
making lots of plans
irritability
spending too much money
unnecessary phone calls
wanting to keep moving
increase appetite
euphoria
feeling superior
increased creativity
overambition
taking on too much responsibility
nervous and wound up
anxious
overly self-involved
negativism
feeling unreal
more sensitive than usual
inappropriate anger
difficulty staying still
restlessness
compulsive eating
unusul bursts of enthusiasm
very productive
doing several things at once
inability to concentrate
noises louder than usual
thrill seeking
more sexually active
spotless, energetic housekeeping
itching
flushed and hot
increased socialibity(p.77-8)
