Station 70 - Bridge City VFD

Bridge City is home to the Gumbo Festival and Avondale Shipyards. The Avondale community is comprised of primarily residential industrial property. Although the shipyard is situated on the fringe of the community and across the street from the Bridge City fire station, the shipyard has its own fire department and equipment. Bridge City boarders Nine Mile Point, Live Oak Manor, and Avondale.

Engine 707 of the Bridge City Fire Department, photographed on Feb 28, 2000, is now retired with the new 707 taking its place. This is a 1983 Mack Squrt and is identical to another 1983 Mack squrt painted red that is assigned to the Live Oak Manor Volunteer Fire Department in Waggaman, LA.

The new Engine 708 of the Bridge City Fire Department is a 2003 E-One Typhoon, mid-control. Very neatly layed out truck that will be with the company many years from now. This one replaces the GMC Kodiak that was recently sold to a fire department in Alabama.
