Geocaching is kinda like modern day treasure hunting...it's lotsa fun! Click here to check out geocaching!

Sydnie and I usually go geocaching by ourselves...sometimes we go with my sister or my buddy, Buck8Point though. Before I discovered this sport, you would have never caught me in the woods. Now the woods are a kinda cool place to be (as long as the ticks stay off me!) We've seen some really beautiful sites while hunting caches. This is a great sport for the entire family, young and old. Here are a few pics from our adventures! Just click on the links and a photo will appear from that particular cache visit!

Forest ParkCache

This was the first cache we looked for, but it was missing. The kids found long sticks to ward off the snakes they might encounter on the way in! Didn't take us long to find another cache to search for!

Kingdom Kids Cache

This was our very first cache find. It was hidden by a children’s choir with flyers and other treats inside the container to entice people to attend their church program. Sydnie and Devin were extremely excited to find their first treasure and couldn't wait to do it again! Sydnie took a whistle and Devin took a lanyard.

Kris and the kids

This pic is from the Tickfaw cache near Albany, LA. We hiked into the woods, found the treasure after a short search and then made our way back out before dark. We stopped to rest for a minute, since we didn't count on the long hike with 2 small children. This pic is of me and Syd and my lil niece Brianna is on the far left. They had a blast! Woulda been better minus the skeeters! Sydnie took a small radio/headphone thing and Brianna took an M&M dispenser

Sydnie

This pic is from Sud-Ouest in St Martinville, LA. We searched under the canopy of trees for quite awhile before realizing the secret hiding place. Was very beautiful out there, even Syd told me that it was beautiful...how many times do you hear a 5 yr old say that!?! Sydnie took the Chuck E Cheese money (just like a girl to take the cash! LOL)

Keychain Cache

This cache was themed, all trades had to be keychains! Syd traded a silver belt clip keychain for a flippu pen keychain. She was also holding Buck8point's trade, Scooby. I was logging our find in the log book.

Best Bank Cache

This cache was in New Orleans, Syd walked right over to the hiding place and she traded a tiger toy for the LSU basketball

Kris and Syd

We were about half way through the woods to the Wilson cache when we saw this cool oak tree, hadda stop and take pics! We got really muddy on this cache trip, and there were tons of skeeters too! It has since been removed by the National Parks people L

Seafood Cache (Syd)
Seafood Cache (Kris)

This cache was full of "seafood"; crabs and shrimp. The object of this adventure was to take a piece of seafood out and leave a seafood recipe in return. After all the seafood are gone, they will compile a cookbook!

Pearl Cache

We drove to Fourchon early earlyyyyy to find this cache, it was one of 7 we searched for that day. Syd's first trip to the beach of any kind, so she picked up a few shells to remember it by.

Confederate Cache

This was the 2nd of 5 caches for the day. We were the first to find it and Syd and Devin were eager to find their treasures! Devin traded for a survival knife and Sydnie traded for pink silly putty!

Rocks? Cache

Sydnie and Devin climbin a dirt incline to get to the cache hidden in the rocks above! I was waiting for a snake to jump out and get Buck8point while he was rummaging through the rocks! lol
