HOW I KNOW LUKE: I have been best friends with the Ross family for 30 years since Luke and my son, Bryan, were 2 years old. I also graduated with Christine & Robin; so I have actually known them for 45 years.
THOUGHTS: I have known Luke since he was 2 years old... from then on I have been best friends with his family... so losing Luke was like losing my child. Although, I will never truly know the pain & suffering that Robin, Christine & Emily have gone through. My nephew, Beau, also passed to the other side just 1 1/2 years after Luke. All I know is we have lost 2 of the most awesome people & I miss both of them dearly! HOW I KNOW LUKE: Through all the e-mails I get from you all year long. Not completely sure how you knew we lost a 20 year old son just over 5 years ago.
THOUGHTS: Christine, Thinking of Luke and your family on this day. We lost our 20 year old son Tyler Alan Vanderwall just over 5 years ago this past February 4th and I'm still not sure what to call this day. Some people treat it with respect others try not to deal with it at all, I'm not completely sure where I stand. All I know is it is the most painful day of they year, every year. Tyler and Luke would have gotten along. Tyler loved to fish, play sports, he was in the scouts, and he always aspired to play the guitar, although he never really had Lukes talent. It takes a passion to be able to play in front of others and Tyler liked it too. I miss my son every day, as I talk with him all the time. It's really hard to understand why, Tyler died from Leukemia shortly after being diagnosed. Thank you for the opportunity to keep Tyler's name alive through your memorials as I try not to miss any of them. I'm thinking of you guys as I write this short note and listed to Lukes songs. Hope Jesus blesses you and your family today! Oh yea, a short story to help you in knowing Luke & Tyler are right behind that door. About 6 months after Tyler died my wife Michelle and I went out to eat at a Perkins restaurant on a weekday afternoon. We were the only persons in the place. The hostess came to seat us, she looked at the two of us and asked if the table was for three. She saw Tyler that day! May God bless you and your family.

Each year on my son's angelversaries and birthdays we release balloons with notes tied to them asking those that found the deflated balloons to either call, write, or email us to let us know where they found the balloon. It's been very interesting and informing on where they were found. So many that have found them also have lost a loved one and we grieve with each other. Each year family and friends come less and less. My son, Crawford, will have his 5th angelversary on May 12th. Forever 18. I know that one day I will be at his gravesite releasing balloons by myself....my depression continues. I watched your smilie box that you made for Luke. Very nice. Nice touch with his young voice at the front and end. Looking at the pictures and seeing him go through his life stages. From long hair back to short hair as he grew older. He turned into such a handsome young man! I don't say "Happy" with birthdays or angelversaries. They still aren't "Happy" anymore. We can only remember and hope that we will see them again. That will be a "Happy" day! From one parent to another that has lost their precious son......... With only memories left of our sons.....................

THOUGHTS: I just want to share my thoughts and prayers with Luke's family and dear friends. It is never easy losing a child no matter at what age they go to heaven.
