THE LUCKY ONES

The day that we came to Crossing Over,
We so desperately wanted to hear from our son,
So many things happened to bring us there,
We felt strongly that we were.....THE LUCKY ONES.

Anticipation swelled within our hearts,
As others heard from loved ones past,
We waited.....oh so anxiously,
Then John said, "This is the last".

The LAST! .....He must be joking,
What the heck is going on,
Everything fell into place to be here,
We know Luke didn't steer us wrong.

No reading, No message,....or so we thought,
We didn't understand and it didn't seem fair.
Although John told us we got so much more,
We went home defeated and in despair.

But time has passed and we realize,
Luke still has so very much to say,
And more than that Luke wants us to know,
We can communicate with him day to day.

So we've opened our ears, adjusted our eyes,
and listened to Luke with our hearts,
It's amazing the things that boy has to say,
and he's been saying it from the start.

"Hey Mom and Dad, I'm right here beside you,
Nothing is much different than before,
If you see with new eyes and hear with new ears,
You want have to be so very sad anymore."

We know Luke's body is gone from us,
But his life is not over, it's changing,
His imperishable spirit is reaching out,
We just had to do a little rearranging.

Love goes on forever and ever,
Death can never take love away,
Our senses are tuned and aware of Luke,
Life continues through love that won't fade.

We know that Luke will be waiting for us,
When we cross to the other side.
Until then we've got lots of lessons to learn,
Mostly to know.....the spirit doesn't die.

That day at Crossing Over,
Though unaware,.....we heard from Luke,
His message, John, is what you always say,
To talk to him, we don't really need you.

What a gift for those that get a reading,
But they listen, and then it's all done,
But It's those that don't get a reading,
That sometimes turn out to be.....THE LUCKY ONES.
