EMPRESS JOSEPHINE'S EMERALD TIARA

This emerald and diamond tiara is a part of a big emerald parure,
made for Empress Josephine by the french jeweller Bapst.
The set consists a tiara, a necklace, two brooches and earrings.

When Crown Princess Märtha gave birth to the future King Harald, her parents gave her the emerald set.
By the time Martha got it, the two teardrop-shaped emeralds had been removed and made into earrings.
Here you can read a very interesting story about how Märtha was given theese jewels,
for security when she was leaving Sweden during the war.

The set is now worn by Queen Sonja.
When Princess Astrid was the first lady of Norway, she wore this emerald set.
