Dear Ms. Rodriguez:

It has come to my attention that on October 9, 2007, at 1:30 pm, there will be a discussion on a zoning change from RD-2 (Residential Housing) and C-1 (Commercial District) to LI (Light Industrial) in order to permit a trailer park at 9901 Chef Menteur Boulevard (at Read Boulevard).

Please be informed that I do not support this zoning change because I feel that it will hinder efforts to revitalize the Chef Menteur corridor into a vibrant gateway into Eastern New Orleans. Chef Menteur Boulevard serves as one of the routes to the Renaissance Towne Center (formerly the Plaza Mall), and a trailer park in this location would be an eyesore.

Furthermore, I want to ensure that there is permanent, quality, safe housing available for residents of Eastern New Orleans.

I respectfully ask that you deny all requests for permits to change zoning in this area from Residential and Commercial to Light Industrial. In addition, please provide notification of any changes in the hearing date of this matter so that I may attend and voice my opposition to this zoning change.
