My absolute favorite thing to do:

MUSIC:  I tell this to visitors all the time - it's not about PLACES with us - it's about PEOPLE!  Suppose I send you to a music joint promising you wonderful music and they are featuring the Tulane University Chamber Ensemble?  (Which does happen.  And guess what - it is wonderful music!  But you're not here for Haydn or Mozart.)  It's about performers, not places. So here are a few performers that I particularly enjoy and I hope you will too.

Jamil Shariff     Irvin Mayfield     Banu Gibson     Tony Seville     Steamboat Willie

The New Leviathan Oriental Foxtrot Orchestra

WANT TO TAKE THE KIDS TO HEAR MUSIC?

In the case of families and the "Under 21 Set," finding good music can be a challenge since most venues are bars that don't allow anyone under 21.  Music is everywhere on the streets but in the summer months street music slows down considerably due to the heat.  Click on the links below for options that are kid friendly where you can hear that great New Orleans sound:

Musical Legends Park         The Gazebo         The Market Cafe
