The setup and installation is very simple. Once you have received the software, you simply put the CD in and then wait for the prompt. Once prompted you will put in the software code. The implementation of this software is fairly simple. Calyx provides a great amount of support and training, which is available nationwide. The classes that are provided are done by an experienced team and can be given to a group who is completely new to the software or they can adjust the class in the scenario that the students have a fairly good understanding of the Calyx Point Software. If you prefer a Calyx Point training online, rather than a classroom setting, they offer training via the internet. This online training provide one to two hour sessions of step-by-step instruction on a specific feature or function in Point. The online training is done via a WebEx Interactive Network, which allows for a more interactive instruction, which also provides the conveniences of online learning. DOCUMENTATION
The Calyx Point Software manual is 318 pages of an immense amount of information, which is broken down into categories in the table of contents. This allows you to have the ability to go exactly where you want to go. If you need to know how to move customer files from one file to another, you can go straight to that page that tells you exactly what you need to do. This manual is available via hardcopy or as a .pdf file on your hardrive.
The index gives you the ability to quickly look up the topic that you need to get more information on. The index is very comprehensive and addresses the many questions that can arise as you work with the software.
The manual does not include a glossary, although it would be a great addition to a manual that explains everything about the software in great detail.
USER INTERFACE & USER FRIENDLY
The Calyx Point Software is cutting edge in most areas of the user interface, compared to the other competing softwares that do the same thing. There are both menus and icons, which allow the user to easily access the files or data that they are searching for within the software. The software overall is very easy to use and is setup in a basic manner that keeps things simple for all users. You can acquire more information or options within the software by right clicking on the different links in the software. The software also gives you quick menus with the most common links and forms, which allows for easy navigation. The software is easy to use and has multiple navigation bars.
SECURITY, BACK-UP & RECOVERY CONCERNS?
On the Point Administrator screen, the user manager screen comes up and from that screen the administrator can set up user privilidges. By setting up the different privilidges the administrator is able allow the loan representatives and the loan processors the ability to access only the files to which they should have access to. The security settings can be changed on the folders to protect them from users, who shouldn't have access to those specific folders. The security provided by the software is good, although there is definatly room for improvement both to make easier to setup security accesses and additional security options.
WARRANTY, SUPPORT & SERVICING INFO.
Calyx Point Software gives you continuous support along with at least two updates per year, but this all comes at a price. In order to maintain a subscription to these updates, the user must pay an annual fee of $295 if you are to renew the subscription continually. If you have to restart the subscription, then the annual subscription will cost you $395. Obviously this difference in cost can influence you to keep your subscription current even if you don't use the service often. Another reason they give you for keeping up to date is the updates that occur at least twice a year. This can happen on numerous occasions as new forms are needed or required by law or new technology that can make the processing or origination easier. The great thing about the support is it is available Monday through Friday from 8am til 7pm. The support is also available online via email or instant chat. REVIEWS:Based on a couple of brief interviews that I had with users of this product I found they both had similar comments about the product. They both concluded that the software is used in the majority of the firms in which they have worked. They claim that the software is very easy and efficient, just as Calyx Point claims on there website. When we were given this assignment at the beginning of the year I wanted to do an assessment on a software that I didn't already know and that I could possibly use in the future. Since I work in a financial institution, I deal with a lot of different people and as interacted with a Calyx Point User, he recommended the software, which is where I came up with the idea to do my research on this software. He then spoke to me in some detail about its ease and efficiency.

SUMMARY
Calyx Point Software is a great tool that can be used from start to finish when marketing, getting prequalification, originating, underwriting, processing and closing a loan. The software does it all and is continually getting better as they continue to add to the software to make it more efficient and to keep it up to date with data and forms. If I were running a brokerage firm I wouldn't hesitate to using this software. Based on my navigation and analysis of the software I found many great tools and I can only see it improving. The benefits of the software easily outweigh the cost. I give the software an A-. Could be an A+ with a couple simple improvements.
