Brent's Friends

I'M STILL HERE

Friend, please don't mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.
My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.
I'll never wander out of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.
I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.
I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.
When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
you can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.
I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

anon.

When we got Brent's yearbook the following September, Brandee took it to school and had friends sign it for him. These are some of the letters they wrote.

Brent,
Every time I think about you I always remember the parties you used to have when we were little. I don't think that any of our lives will ever be the same without you. You've been with us since we started 13 years ago and it hurts to think that you won't be here to end it all. But throughout the year, and the rest of our lives, we will always remember you. We will remember the good times and the bad times, and every other memory we have of you. Everyday, I wonder why God took you from us, and I know one day all of our questions will be answered. We'll just have to be patient until then. Because the day will come when everyone is together again. Losing you is probably the hardest thing that most of us have had to go through. But we have all become stronger, and closer, and personally in my opinion, the coolest class so far! I guess that what all of this really says is one thing Brent, although you're gone, you'll never be forgotten. In our hearts you'll always live. I'll see you when I get there.

Love Always,
Rhe'sha Shockley

Brent,
Hey sweetie! Well, I would start to tell you how much I miss you but you probably already know. Things aren't the same w/o you here. Like right now if you were, I wouldn't be sitting here crying while writing this. The pain goes on every time I hear your name or see pictures of you smiling. I just wish we could be together right now. I know the time will come.

Love Always,
Melissa Renee' Stevens

Brent,
Hey sweetie! You have no idea how much we miss you! You don't know all the nights I just sit around and think of you and Crystal and all the fun and crazy times! I know you are in a far better place and I can't wait for the time when we will all be together again! You know I luv ya!

Miss ya like crazy!
Anrea Zummo

P.S. Always remember our dance!

Dear Brent,
I often wonder what it would be like if you were still here. It's so hard without you. I think of you every day. I miss the way you made me laugh and the times we had. I miss walking down the hall and seeing you there. I guess you were like a like a brother and a best friend. I miss you so much. I guess I'll see you when I get there.

One of your best friends,
Max Pierson #8

Brent,
What's up cousin? I can still remember when we hated each other, got in a fight and then for some odd reason became good friends. It's been pretty hard these last few months but I believe that everyone is doing their best to overcome the big loss of a great friend (physically) But you'll really be gone. You'll always be in my heart as well as everyone else's. I can still hear your voice ringing down the halls and your crazy laugh in Mrs. Roquin's class. Thanks for being there to make me laugh when I needed it. I miss you even though I know you are in a much better place. I'll see you at the crossroads and we'll be together for eternity.

Brandon Voight

Brent,
Hey sweetheart! It's been pretty hard these last few months. Crystal's starting to do better but she still has her bad days. It's gonna be hard to but I promise you I'm gonna be there for her through all of it. I miss you sooo much! It's not the same without you. I go to visit you a lot. It's still not real to me. But I will never forget the long talks we used to have always about how much you loved Crystal and you listening to my problems. (Thanks) I can't wait to see you again and I can't wait for the day you and Crystal can be together forever. I miss you but will never forget you.

Love you always,
Samantha Stevens

Brent,
Hey Sweetie! Well, I can't believe that we are almost out of here. I can still remember when we were in fourth grade when I first met you. I have known you for a long time and I'll never forget you. It is so hard trying to get over what happened. I know that you are in a better place and happy but I miss you so much. It's not the same without you. You were always there to make me laugh when I needed a laugh for anything. I miss all those times when we used to stay at each others houses and go on vacations together. I will never forget you, you were my first boyfriend, kiss, and a very good friend to me. I will never let anything get between us no matter what happens in my life. We will meet together again and never part this time no matter what. I love you and miss you a lot. I'll see you when I get there.

Love ya always
Celeste Vitrano

Brent was my best friend since second grade. I will miss him. I will remember the first time we spent the night. We ate about three boxes of oatmeal cookies. The first home run I hit, Brent was on first base. We were very close friends.

Michael Allen

Brent,
I miss you so much it hurts. Things are definitely not the same with you not here. You brought so much joy to my heart and made us all so happy. You brightened each day with your smile and left a mark on my heart that will never fade away. I remember each and every moment we spent together and every night we all went out. You made thins fun even when they really weren't and I love you for it. The Class of 1999 loves and misses you. Never forget that! Continue to watch over us all. I know I'll see you soon but not soon enough. I love you for life and I'll never forget our friendship.

Your friend forever,
Kristie Lee Price

Brent,
Well, we are finally seniors and you aren't here to physically enjoy it with us. I will never forget your crazy self. You always knew how to make me laugh when I was sick or just in a bad mood and I will never forget that. God made our friendship strong like it is for a reason. You will always be my best friend no matter what. No one could ever take your place in my heart. The day you left us tore me apart and I thought I wouldn't be able to go on but I realize you are in a better place and you will always be with me. It is hard sometimes when I think about you, to go one with my life because I always ran to you when I had a problem and now you aren't here. I have come to realize I can still tell you everything. Everyone misses you so much. We talk about the times we had with you. Brent, I miss you so much and I love you! We will be together again soon!

Best Friends,
Nicole Bunton
