Mr. Matthews was instrumental in the formation of the Falling Creek Blacksmith Guild, a non profit organization dedicated to the preservation and instruction of the ancient art of traditional blacksmithing; the performance of community service projects forged by Guild members; and, through presentations and demonstrations by the Guild members on behalf of non-profit, community, and civic organizations and educational institutions. Mr. Matthews and the formation of the Guild were recently featured in a Hendersonville, NC, Times-News.

His work is presently being shown at the Hand in Hand Gallery located in the village of Flat Rock, North Carolina.

One of my "whimsical" sculptures is The Magic Garden. The Magic Garden is home to the Faeries and Wizards. They are able to frolic all day knowing they are protected from their mortal enemy, “The Slimy Snail”, by the serpent of their realm.
