"Since 1973, the District has hosted this event to provide an avenue for high school band and drill teams to exhibit their field shows that includes music, dance and pageantry. Groups are adjudicated on how well they execute their shows by a panel of adjudicators and are placed in divisions according to the number of playing musicians on the field. Locations are selected annually to represent the different geographical areas of the District. The third weekend of November is the target for this event that draws thousands of spectators and the media."
