About Me:
I started in November of 1972. Loving, raising and showing dog for over 39 years. It was a way to travel and be with my dogs at the same time. I love being with my dogs, grooming, playing, and photographing them. It is not the number of ribbons, or champions I have, it's the feeling, it's the smiles, it's the way they make me feel. This was my hobby, a hobby that I took seriously. I study and I read and listened.

Thanks for the invite Caroline, We did enjoy ourselves, they boys were perfect gentlemen and they too appreciated being accepted as part of the family. It is good for the public to also see that dogs can behave in public, and they did ask many questions on care, grooming and obedience etc. Education about Scottish dogs and dogs in general. The public library lady and I had great talk too about dogs visiting the Lake Charles library as well. Mary C.

I live on five acres of land outside a major city in the country. My job is at home so I am here for my dogs. My children are grown. My friends and their families all enjoy the dogs and dog activities. I belong to several dog breed clubs and continue my education in dogs through seminars and lectures. Staying on top of dog issues is an important part of dealing with the consistent new issues plaguing all dogs. I do testing on all my adults, thyroid, hips, eyes checks (CERF), GSC, PDA (heart checks), drug sensitive MDR1 checks.

Our collies date back to Parader, Lick Creek and Arrowhill. Tel Collies of Louisiana and Ladlor Collies from California. Currently including Afterhours / Gambit / Fantasy / Tartanside.

Our collies today date back to my first collie which was purchased from Tel Collies of Louisiana. She had many ranked champions and was the start of two kennels still in existence today. You can see my first girl, Tel's Miss Fancy Pants (7 points) in all the pedigree of our current dogs that were born here at Earthstar. At Earthstar, we believe in good beginning and we have built upon that to where we are today.

Due to my age and circumstances there have been no puppies in 2 and half years, things of course, have slowed down, but I can still help you and hopefully educate you ... by posting on this website.

I have showed dogs on a limited basic for most of my 39 years and very proud of all we have achieved, OUR WAY.

My Philosophy :  Collies were born to be loved. Good beginnings are important and cherished, especially here at Earthstar but collies are for life -once they leave my home the rest is up to you. Collies should be consider a member of the family, they depend on you. Collies are not children but child like, they need people that understand that owning a puppy is a commitment for life. What you put into one's children or dogs, that time, training, care, love and attention; " you invested " is the type of results you will end up with. A great happy well adjusted child or a great happy well adjusted dog.

There are big difference between people, whether you are a breeder, owner or purchaser.

OUR collies are the sweetest and most understanding of dogs, they can adjust to your lifestyle. They don't need an acre of land to be happy, they need one human to love them. They want YOUR COMPANIONSHIP.

Our Collies: They have temperaments that are out going and loving. They will greet with more energy than you will be ready for. They love people, children and learn so fast it will amaze you. Children of all ages, babies to grandparents.
Patches & daughter; next is Beast & Savannah.....Peanut pictured at 9 yrs old. Followed by Savannah and Dam Gypsy ( Gypsy is full sister to Peanut;) they turned 13 years old Jan. 2008.

        Our dogs are sound, healthy and beautiful dogs. Style and Function. Outstanding beauties with sweet expression. Our oldest was put down at 14.7 years young for she was ready to met our others at rainbow bridge. We recognize that beauty is important but intelligence, being structurally correct, is what makes the total dog. A collie is a herding dog, they love learning, will work with you in obedience and agility. Of course, if you wish they will just grace your sofa and be happy just at your feet.

I have shown and finished 13 collies to their championship; I bred 11 that have finished their championship. I co own four that are nearly finished. I have two that were Ranked both in Collie Breed points and All Breed Points. I have two young ones well on their way.

OUR COLLIES DON'T JUST MEET THE AKC STANDARDS, THEY EXCEL IN THE STANDARDS WE KEEP.
