Spanish Tarot
This deck is said to be based on Tarot Clasico. I know very little Spanish, but it is obvious this is in the Tarot de Marseilles style. Majors and court cards are illustrated, but pips are not. The majors are titled in English at the top of the card and in Spanish at the bottom of the card, except Death which is not titled. Justice is VIII and Strength is XI. Court cards are titled in Spanish only. Suits are bastos (batons), copas (cups), espasas (swords) and oros (coins). Court cards are sota (page), caballo (knight), reina (queen) and el rey (king). The little white booklet has instructions and explanations printed in English, Spanish and French. My deck also came with a seperate insert with brief explanations and meanings in German. I bought my deck used, and suspect this insert was not original with the deck.
The cards measure slightly under 2.5 by 4.5 inches and handle easily. The card stock is stiff, a little too stiff for my taste. The cards are definatly durable. I bought this deck used (well used), and the cards have held up remarkably well.
I recommend this deck for those looking for a deck in Spanish (obviously), especially those who prefer Tarot de Marseilles style decks. I also recommend this deck for collectors and those interested in historical decks.
