chairs, or throw a beach towel on the
the sand and get comfy!
My name is Shirley, better known as
SJ, or Mom, to most of my online
family and friends. I have four
children and one, step-daughter, who
together have blessed me with 16 beautiful
grandchildren! And as of to date I have
14Great Grandchildren, counting the two on
the way.
The main reason I started this homepage is
to share first of all, my faith in God,
without Him, none of this would be
happening!
Second, my love for lighthouses, music,
oceans, lakes, waterfalls, and the lovely
South Louisiana Bayous, they are,
beautiful! And you can catch some
wonderful Bass and Catfish here too!
Third, you will find much of my poetry and
prose on this site. I love to write and
have been writing since I was 12 years old.
It all started when my Mother and I moved
to San Pedro CA and rented an apartment
three blocks from Cabrillo Beach!
I would sit on the beach for hours,
listening to the waves and watching
the people strolling by. That's when
I first picked up a pen to write what
was in my heart, spilling over on to
the pages of my first journal.
I hope you will enjoy your visit among
my favorite memories and the many
treasures I enjoy.
To me, there is nothing as beautiful or
peaceful, than the sound of the waves
washing ashore, or the sound of a
foghorn, as it sends out warnings
to the ships passing in the night.
I enjoy sitting on the bank of a lake,
or pond.
When I married, and moved to South
Louisiana, and fell in love with the
lovely bayous around here. Besides
fishing in one of the lovely
bayous, there is no prettier site
on a Summer's afternoon than turtles
on a log or a Gator sunning on the
bank.
If you get time, watch the turtles as they
sun bathe on a log, please do, it is a
such peaceful site to me.
You know, the simplest things in life are
priceless. And as you grow older, you come
to realize, life is what you make it and the
family and friends, you have or will ever
have, really are the most important part of
your life.
I have watched sunsets over the roaring
waves, and watched as the sails of ships
were lowered, as they settled in
for the evening. And enjoyed watching
the sandpipers as they scurry along
the beach.
As evening falls there's a peaceful kind
of hush that surrounds you and you are
sure this place, was made just for you!
I watch, as lovers pass by, and one
speaks, a friendly, "Hello"
I hope you will enjoy your visit
here on my little beach and take
your time and please, come back often.
Maybe in some small way coming to,
"My Place In The Sun", will put a smile
a smile on your face, a song or two in
your heart. Have a look around, and find
some little treasures to take with you,
when you leave.
Remember, the sun is always shining and the
weather is warm and if you listen, you will
hear the tide going out and rushing back in
and gently whispers..."Come walk with me."
Come on, grab your beach towels,
picnic basket, cold drinks! Oh,
and just think you dont need
the suntan lotion!
There are plenty of great
places to spread out your beach
towels. Just kick off your
sandles and take in the many
beautiful sights and cool
sounds, let's go see some of
the places in...
