In Loving Memory...

For All Pets That Have Left Us...

God looked around his garden And found an empty place,
He then looked down upon the earth And saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain, He knew you would never get well on earth again.

He saw the road getting rough
And the stairs were hard to climb,
So he closed your weary eyelids,
And He whispered, "Peace is thine."

It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn't go alone,
For part of me went with you
The day God took you home.

Though your joyous bark is gone forever
And your head I can no longer caress,
I will always have such sweet memories,
Of my loving pet.

I wrote this page in memory of a Labrador that I adopted from the shelter and she worked with me until October of 1998. Mocha had a knack of letting fearful dogs know that we were there to help them. Mocha would convince them to come to her and let us take them to the shelter. I love you and miss you 'Big Mama Mocha'. I hope this poem will give you some comfort when your heart is aching.
