Well, well!! Would you look at us if we don't look like a
couple of tourists! Well, we were. We had such a wonderful
time here in San Diego. This was our second day here
visiting our daughter. She took us on a one hour harbour
tour aboard the Hornblower. I really did enjoy this so much.
But, silly me. I left my sunscreen at her apartment and
managed to get myself a whopper of a sunburn on my arms.
OUCH!! I looked like a freshly boiled crawfish! And that's
red! But, that was O.K. It didn't put much of a damper on
our vacation. Mandy lives right on the beach, and we spent
a lot of our free time walking the beach, finding shells,
playing in the surf (chilly), and just hanging around the patio.
We did a LOT of walking up and down the street, to shops and piers.
I have so many pictures, and she took some with her digital.
So, here goes. Hope you enjoy all the wonderful scenery as
much as we all did. It was truly an awesome vacation. And
Mandy is the best tour guide in the world! And she's our baby!
When we got to the airport in San Diego, Mandy
was waiting for us. We left the airport and stopped to get some food at
McDonald's
on the way. When we got to the apartment,
we ate, &
Mandy and I went grocery shopping. She
had so very
sweetly volunteered me to cook some of
my Cajun food
the very next day! So we got the stuff I
was going
to need, and went home. I had brought some
shrimp with
us from our freezer, and made jambalaya,
and gumbo
with potato salad and rice. She had invited
a few
friends and one of her bosses over to
eat with
us. I really enjoyed that. It was nice to
cook for
someone who wasn't used to Cajun cooking
because if
I messed up, I could always say, "Well, that
is how
it is supposed to be!" But, it turned out
really well.
These are a few pictures of our week.
On Friday, we went to Point Loma especially to see the Light House. But, on our way there we detoured to a part of Coronado that Mandy wanted us to see called, Green Turtle Cay. Not a place we could afford to live in, but we can make believe! Gorgeous.
This was at Mandy's apt. at the little dinner party for Wilbert's big day.
This was taken from Mandy's patio off the living room, of a surfer on the beach.
Wilbert and I posing like residents (wish!) on a deck at Green Turtle Cay.
