MARGERY'S BIO:

Margery Harkness Casares is a multipublished, award-winning author from North Louisiana. She wrote her first story at age 8 about a little girl who didn't want to go to school and a little frog who did.


She's been married twice, is the mother of four wonderful children, two sons and two daughters. Now retired, she lives in the lovely small town of Minden with her cat Mo-Mo, who allows her to to share her home with him.


Margery's varied experiences include having been an Arthur Murray Instructor, appearing each Tuesday night on TV with the Arthur Murray dancers; a bartender; a bar owner; and a private secretary, to name a few. She collects dolls, books, and antique jewelry. She loves yard sales, flea markets, antique shops, & auctions. But mostly, she loves to write and to share that love with others.

This author has won many contests and awards. She is especially proud of her 1998 first place win in NOLA's Great Beginnings Contest and the coveted Suzannah Nelson Davis Award of Excellence which is given each year in memory of Suzannah. Margery won both these awards for Flood, Drought & Trudy Pyburn which then had the working title of Stalemate.


In 1999 Margery was presented with the Budding Rose award for A BLOSSOM FELL, her first published novel, and the Climbing Rose award for having contracted to publish three novels in one year


She won the DISTINGUISED ARTIST IN LITERATURE OF 1999 AWARD 'for Outstanding Contributions to the Literary Arts in Louisiana'. (She was again honored in -2000--as a Louisiana author by the Library association of La.)


Margery is not only an author, she critiques and edits manuscripts for published and unpublished writers, and judges writing competitions, including RWA's GOLDEN HEART CONTEST in which she was a permanent judge for a number of years.


She spends most of her time writing, has completed seven novels, and has a number of others in various stages of completion. She loves to create exciting plots and memorable characters and hopes her readers enjoy reading her novels as much as she enjoys writing them.
