The History 
Formation at the Star Hotel in Rutherglen on the 21st August 1974 by 16 men.  Chartered by District Governor Lewis Jackson 16th November 1974 with 22 Clubs present.  Aided in the raising of funds for the  cyclone Tracy appeal which saw Lions International  donate $100,000.00 & Clubs raise $700,000.00.  1975 also saw the Club raise money for the Kew Cottages and participate   in a project of installing red emergency lights for the aged and imfirm at their homes.  The first catering van was completed; for that Easter. Foundations of a house were poured by members & money donated to the elderly citzens home in Corowa.  1976 saw the start of an ongoing  project at the Carlysle Cemetery & the establishment of the Lions Park. Money from street stall donated to cancer  research, Rutherglen Kinder garten,  Ruterglen Rowing Club, Western District Bushfire Appeal .  1988 saw donations of $2254.04 to  such areas as the High School,  Agricultural Society, Foster Parents Plan, National Heart Foundation, &  Legacy. Manning of Regatta Gates, Camp Quality, & catering at all  levels.  2004 saw a family who suffered three children with blindness have a $11000 Braillier machine donated to aid the children through their education difficulties. In 2006 an appeal was run in conjunction with Apex & Rotary for the Tsuami survivors raising $9000

 The current Clubrooms were acquired from VicRail on a lease basis after some years of discussion. 1990 saw the advent of the tri-club [Rutherglen,Corowa, Howlong ] changeovers. Youth Exchange was furthered by the efforts of members by hosting the fifth person. One thousand trees planted at the Sewerage farm. Catering at All Saints Winery with Ruth Gordon as guest. Help refurbish the Scouts kitchen. Later years have seen the ongoing Carlysle Cemetery Project obtain accolades from the Keep Australia Beautiful Committee,the erection of a toilet block at the Lions Park , catering for the Elderly Citizens Dinner approximately 200, a seafood spinning wheel at the Winery Walkabout Market & many other things too numerous to talk about. We now number sixteen dedicated members and are proceeding to greater strengths.
