One of the famous known Jedi woman was Nomi Sunrider. She lived four thousand years before the Jedi Purge. She faced battles against the coming of the Dark Lords of the Sith. Her power of the Force were past down to generations of future Jedi.
Nomi was the wife of Jedi Andur Sunrider and the mother of baby Vima. They lived on a rugged world with their droid A-3DO. Andur one day revived a parcel from his Master, Chamma. In the parcel was Adegan crystals--the best gems for builting lightsabers. Nomi and Vima went with him because Nomi was always worried about his safety. They leave for Stenness where Jedi Master Thon was the watchman.
Unfortunately, Bogga the Hutt found out about their cargo. Two thug arranged a diversion while a third used a poisonous gorm worm to kill Andur. Nomi rushed to his side but he had became on with the Force.
His glowing form appeared and told her to defend herself with his lightsaber. Audur knew Nomi was able of becoming a Jedi but she was too timid to train in the Force. With the death of Audur, she was transformed and killed two of the thugs.
Nomi continued with her daughter to see Jedi Master Thon. She land the Lightside Explorer on Ambria. On the planet she met Jedi Oss Willium and Master Thon. The two Jedi and Nomi defended Thon's home when Bogga's men attacked in seach of the crystrals.
Nomi agreed to stay on the planet to train to be a Jedi. Thon ignored her in the first following monthes. Nomi protect her daughter with her Force talent, which was to alter events with her mind. Nomi didn't know yet that this talent was part of Jedi Battle Meditation. When Thon knew a battle with the Dark Side was imminent on the other side of the galaxy, Thon desided to start training Nomi.
During the training, Nomi refused to build or touch a lightsaber. Thon told her that a lightsaber was more than a tool of defence; it focussed the mind, assisting a Jedi connection to the Force. Nomi still refused. Using a Jedi Holocron, Thon taught her about the battle again the Sith in the past. The gatekeeper Ood Bnar told them Nomi will play a large role in a upcoming battle against the Dark Side. Nomi didn't want to kill to defend the galaxy. She wanted to leave with her daughter and start a new life.
Events forced her to decide otherwise. Still angery at his defeat on Amrbia Bogga ordered the space pirate Finhead Stonebone his pirates to attack the Jedi and steal the crystrals. They arrived attacking Thon. Nomi used her Force talent to intensify the pirates argression and causing them to fight each other. She used Thon's lightsaber and defeated the pirates. Few pirates returned to Bogga. After the battle Nomi desided to continue her training.
Thon brought Nomi to Ossus, the centre of Jedi learning. Nomi became a Padawan learner to Master Vodo-Siosk Baas. Baas trained her to built a lightsaber, using one of the crystral her husband had given her.
Nomi trained in many ways on Ossus, but one day an assembly was called. The Jedi Master Arca had fallen to the Sith on Onderon and a team is need to rescue him. Nomi was one of them called. She left her daughter in the care of the other Jedi and left for Onderon for battle the Dark Siders.
The Jedi ship arrived in the ruling capital of Iziz to fight the followers of Freedon Nadd. The Jedi charged to rescue Arca and his students. Nomi was struck down by a blast thrown by King Ommin. Jedi Ulic Qel-Droma kept her safe. The numbers of Jedi was cut to seven. They entered the fortress. The king drived them back with his Sith powers. Ulic prevailed. The evil spirt of Freedon Nadd appeared and pulled Ommin's dying spirt to the Dark Side. Nadd bid the Jedi farewell, promising that they thought they won the battle, in the future they would find thay had lost.
Overthe next following weeks, the Jedi stayed on Onderon. Nomi and Ulic grew fond each other. Arca knew that a Sith uprising was shaping the Empress Teta system. While the other Ossus Jedi went to prepare for the battle, Nomi stayed with Arca to train the Jedi battle medition.
Arca soon assigned Ulic and Nomi to lead the peacekeeping fleet of the Republic and Jedi Knights. On the Koros Major, the Krath ruler, Aleema, used her Sith magic to make illusions of space monsters. Nomi used her powers to defeat Aleema but the Krath made a counterattack. On the command ship Ulic was hit be shrapnel and Nomi used the Force to heal him. The Republic commander ordered his fleet and plan a new attack plan.
Most of the Jedi in the galaxy converged on the planet of Deneba to discuss their plans. Ulic Qel-Droma suggested allowing one person to spy on the Krath and find out their secrets. Before a decision could be made the Krath attacked with War Droids. One of the droid snatched Vima but Jedi Sylvar cut the droid down.
During the battle, Master Arca was killed. In the aftermath, Nomi confronted Ulic, who planned to spy on the Krath. She cautioned him saying the Dark Side could tear him apart but he won't reconsider. Ulic departed for the Empress Teta System. Nomi knew that when she saw Ulic again, he will be a changed man.
With no word from Ulic, Nomi took Cay Qel-Droma and Tott Doneeta to the Empress Teta system. Nomi traveled to Cinnagar alone so Ulic secrets will be safe. In the city Nomi learn Ulic was held within the Krath fortress. Nomi allowed herself to be captured to gain enterance.
Nomi's plan backfired. The Krath leaders Aleema and Satal Keto asked Ulic to kill Nomi to prove his loyally to the Krath but Nomi escaped. Then she called Cay and Tott to the fortress. The trio tried to save Ulic but learned he was injected with a Sith poison. The trio escaped knowing Ulic was no longer on of them.
Nomi later led an attack on Cinnagar. She was accompanied by Cay Qel-Droma, Tott Doneeta, Dace Diath, Oss Willium, Shoaneb Culu, Qrrrl Toq, and Oron Kira. Cay and Nomi hoped to rescue Ulic from the Krath. Working with Cay, Nomi tried to make Ulic realize how deep Ulic had gone into the Dark Side. In anger, Ulic striked Nomi with a bolt of Force Lightning. It was what the Masters warned. Ulic had to leave the Dark Side on his own or be lost in evil. Sadily, Nomi and the other Jedi turned their backs and left.
Nomi later learned Ulic joined Dark Jedi Exar Kun and dissappered. While he repeared years later, one of the most bloodiest wars in Republic histroy started. It was the Sith War, the first war in which the Dark-Side powers were used on a massive scale. Exar Kun, Ulic Qel-Droma, and the Krath were reponsible for millions of deaths.
In the end, Ulic Qel-Droma betrayed Kun and lead the Jedi including Nomi Sunrider to the Sith Lord's base of power on the moon of Yavin Four. The Jedi destroyed Exar Kun's body but his spirt wasn't. Nomi Sunrider's fate is unknown.
