The Office of Student Personnel Services works closely with all applicants and students in offering financial aid to assist with the costs related to their occupational training. The SPSO will provide information on these sources, but it is the responsiblity of the applicant or student to submit an application and provide necessary documentation to establish eligibility with each financial aid source. The SPSO works with each agency offering financial aid, and providing records of student attendance and progress as mandated by each agency.

Board of Vocational Education Scholarship: The Board of Vocational education offers a scholarship to one graduating senior from each Louisiana high school. The scholarship covers the tuition for the length of the student's selected occupational training program. Candidates must be nominated by the high school counselor or principal.
JTPA (Job Training Partnership Act) Title 2: JTPA Title 2 is a federal aid program that assists students with the costs of training. Costs of tuition, registration fees, books, tools, and uniforms may be covered through JTPA. eligible participants may be reimbursed for transportaton costs.
JTPA (Job Training Partnership Act) Title 3: JTPA Title 3 is a federal aid program that assists persons who have been dislocated from long-term employment and who need to learn new skills for new employment.
Pell Grant: The Pell Grant Program is a federal aid program designed to provide financial assistance to students attending postsecondary educational institutions.
Project Independence: Individuals receiving Temporary Aid to Need Families (TANF) may be eligible for benefits through Project Independence.
Gender Equity: The Gender Equity program is provided through the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Act. Participants in the Gender Equity program are students who enroll in training for a non-traditional gender occupation, and who exhibit financial need.
Single Parent/Single Pregnant Women/Displaced Homemaker: The Single Parent/Single Pregnant Women/Displaced Homemaker program is also provided through the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Act. Applicants may apply for participation in this program through the agency's financial Aid Office.
Social Security: Dependent children of disabled or deceased workers who were covered by Social Security may be eligible to receive benefits while attending school as full time students. Students should contact the local Social Security Office for determination of eligibility.
State Student Incentive Grant (SSIG): SSIG awards are offered by the state to technical college students. Recipients must be Pell-eligible, and must meet grade requirements.
Veterans Administration: Full-time preparatory programs are approved for Veterans Administration. For information regarding VA educational benefits, applicants should contact their local VA officer.
Vocational Rehabilitation Persons with disabilities may qualify for financial assistance through Vocational Rehabilitation. The SPSO refers interested applicants or students to the Vocational Rehabilitation officer.
