Another Time Another Place

Another time, another place

Who knows what might have been?

We could have been lovers

Or maybe just friends.

What would you mean to me

Another time, another place?

Would you have been the one who captured my soul

And made my spirit free?

Or just another someone I pass on the street?

Another time, another place

Would I be the one to hold you as you sleep

Or would there be another comforting you at night?

Would you be the one I run to for comfort and support?

Would you be the one to quiet all my fears

And help me laugh through the tears?

Who knows what this world has in store

Who's to say why we are here

And who we're put here for.

And so as I gaze up at the stars and

Turn my thoughts your way

I can't help but to wonder

What might have been

Another time, another place.

I close my eyes and there you are

Perfect and loving in every way.

I close my eyes and there you are

The being that dreams are made of.

I open my eyes and there you are

Spiteful and cruel in everyway.

I open my eyes and there you are

The being that nightmare are made of.

I close my eyes and there you are

Loving and kind and tender.

I close my eyes and there you are

Holding me in your gentle grasp.

I open my eyes and there you are

Hating and evil and rough

I open my eyes and there you are

Hitting me with your powerful hands.

And so, I close my eyes and there you are

Perfect and loving in every way.

The Games We Play

You say you do

When you really don't.

You say you will

But you really won't

The games we play

I say I don't

When I really do

I say I won't

But I'd give you the chance

If I knew you'd take it

The games we play.

Why do we pretend to feel

What we really don't?

Is it that hard to be ourselves?

Or just more fun to play

The games we play

Why do you always want to know

The things I just can't tell?

Why do you think it is so easy

To tell you how I feel?

Opening up would mean destruction

Of the wall I've tried so hard to build.

How can I tell you that

I long to hear your voice

Whispering my name in the mist of passion?

I want to feel your touch upon my skin

As you explore me and I examine you.

I want to wrap myself in your arms

And know that you are mine and I am yours.

How can I tell you how I feel

When I know you don't feel the same?

As I stand here looking into your loving brown eyes

I am reminded of a day many years ago.

Down on my knees I had a talk with God.

I asked him to send me someone.

And not just anyone.

No ordinary man would do.

I had my own recipe.

Like you need the best pecans to make a good pecan pie,

I needed a God fearing,health conscious,drug free,loving man.

And please Lord, I asked, Make sure he's got some sense.

I have had my share of those with none.

So with my hands folded in prayer, I asked God for someone.

What I got was someone who is intelligent and goal oriented

Someone who has a strong sense of family and responsibility.

He sent me someone who could beat me up but wouldn't.

He sent me someone made just for me.

We are the perfect combination like Montana and Rice.

Many years ago I had a talk with God.

I asked him to send me someone special.

And he sent me you.
