Title: "Compassion" From: ROBIN By: Alexander Johnson Robin T. Helena, better known as Robin Hood, mounted her white horse for a trip through the mountains to the dragon caves. Mary, a young woman who had filled in for Robin once of twice, and a woman of low ranks among the village in Nottingham Forest, where they stayed, handed her friend and leader her bows and arrows, but this time, Robin refused them. "I don't think I'll need those, today." Was her responce. "Yes, M'Lady." And Mary set the things on the ground for a moment. "I will surely miss you, Mistress Robin." The woman told her as a tear came to her eye. "Oh, my dear friend, don't cry yet. I shall only be gone a short moment. Then I will be back. And I will miss you to. The best thing you can do is pray for me." Robin smiled at her friend and faithful servent, then shouted a quick "Go!" and she was off. She rode quickly and swiftly. The horse flew past it's rider's old house, which was now in crested in moss and vines. It aslo glided over rivers and lept over fallen logs with ease. Something in her heart told her that she must not slow her pace. Within a couple hours of running, they reached the foot of the mountains. The horse quickly found the gap in them and ran into it. Robin had never seen her horse run this hard for this long. About half way through the gab, she pulled on the reigns. "Whoa!" She commanded. About seventeen bloodthirsty wolves had met up with them now. Quickly, she reached into her saddle bag and pulled out the large piece of meet that was always put into there. She tossed it to the canines. The execpted her offering with warmth. She stepped slowly around them before again having her horse bolt for the other side of the gap. Finally, she reached the other side. Something was wrong there. Everything seemed to be in it's proper place, but something told her death had been there. "Resik!" She called out the name of her best friend in the dragon community. Nothing happened. "Resik!" Still nothing. "Malin!" This was her female dragon friend, whom she first met. "Where is everyone?" She asked her horse as she dismounted. Quickly she began to climb up the steeply slanted slop to a dragon cave on the side of the mountain. When she reached it, she immediately went inside, pulling a candle and something that she called a dragon stone. She struck the stone on the ground once. several brightly lit sparks floated up. One touched the candle wick and instantly lit it. She now moved futher into the cave. "Hello? Is anyone here?" She gasped as she came upon a huge lumbersome body in her path. It was Rasik. She quickly put her hand on his thick neck and searched for a pulse. She found one. "Rasik, you lazy dragon, get up." And with that, she kicked the beast in the head. The dragon opened his eyes and looked at the woman angrily. "Oh, it's only you, Robin." He said. "What is it that you want?" "Where are the other dragons?" She asked, moving her candle about. She saw another body. She ran over to it. She was about to check for a pulse, but the neck had be torn up. "It's Falin." Falin was the dragon that had convinced the other dragons not to kill Robin or her friends. Rasik rose quickly, forgetting that the cave wasn't big enough to accupy a standing dragon, and hit his head hard. "Dead? Falin's dead?" Now the dragon let out a cry. then he was quiet as he listened. "They're all dead! All the dragons are dead!" He complained. "Yes, well, you're still alive." A crash sounded behind the woman. Robin turned to see what it was. "Hello? Who's there?" She asked. Suddenly a small form tumbled into the light. The thing was no bigger than Robin's three year old daughter. "Well, hello, there. Who are you?" She asked reaching out a hand to it. The little dragon looked at the woman's hand curisously. Then sniffed it. Suddenly, it pushed itself into her hand and then into her body. The woman giggled. "You're friendly." "Yes, annyway, she has no home. no mother. I can't take care of her, nor can I stay. My dear friend, you must take her to her villiage and care for her. I must go find another flight of dragons." And the brave Rasik moved toward the cave entrence. Robin picked up the baby dragon and hurried after the larger dragon. "Hold on, Rasik." She snapped at him when the reached the entrence. "Yes, M'Lady?" The dragon said respectfully. "I will take care of this child, but at least let me give you a hug goodbye. And may you come and visit me sometime." She told him. The dragon lowered his head so that the woman could try and wrap her arms around his neck, but of course, this was immpossible for a human. After that the dragon looked at her and said simply, "I will return." then he took off. Robin decended down the mountain with the creature and then headed back to her villiage. She told the others of her story, and the all said they would help care for the dragon. The End
