"A Mother's Day Letter"

The following letter was written to me on Mother's Day,
May 10, 1998, just 4 months before Shelley's accident.

Before a special occasion, I always told Shelley, "Don't buy me a gift,
I don't need anything, just get a card." When I was handed this letter on
that Mother's Day, I never realized how much it would later mean to me.

I realize some of the wording in this letter may not be Shelley's
own language. I'm sure it came from a song. She always came
in saying, "Mom, I heard a song today that made me think of us."
She loved to associate songs to people and time.

All I know is that I have read and re-read her words knowing
that this is how she felt in her heart about us.

This precious gift will aways be treasured in my heart forever.

"I prayed for this child,
and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.
So now I give her to the Lord.
For her whole life will be given over to the Lord"…

I Samuel: chapter 1, vs. 27, 28

A Letter from Shelley

Mom and Shelley

"Therefore we are always confident, knowing that,
whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
We are confident, I say, and willing rather
to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."
II Corinthians, vs. 6-8

"My Beautiful Mother's Day Bouquet"

You will live in me always,
Your words, your touch, your heart,
your soul are all a part of me.
My heart is full of your memories.
My soul has been
Forever touched by you.
Thank you for the gift of your life.
I will never forget you....

From ANGEL CATCHER by Kathy and Amy Eldon

"There are no words in the human language that can describe
how it feels to lose your daughter, your best friend, your life.
Kay Des'Ormeaux has written the following poem. Even though
Kaye has not lost a child, she has captured the words
and feelings of every mothers's nightmare."

"My Mom is a Survivor"

My Mom is a survivor,
or so I've heard it said.
But I can hear her crying at night
when all others are in bed.

I watch her lay awake at night
and go to hold her hand.
She doesn't know I'm with her
to help her understand.

But like the sands on the beach
that never wash away...
I watch over my surviving mom,
who thinks of me each day.

She wears a smile for others...
a smile of disguise!
But through Heaven's door I see
tears flowing from her eyes.

My mom tries to cope with death
to keep my memory alive.
But anyone who knows her knows
it is her way to survive.

As I watch over my surviving mom
through Heaven's open door...
I try to tell her that angels
protect me forevermore.

I know that doesn't help her...
or ease the burden she bears.
So if you get a chance, go visit her...
and show her that you care.

For no matter what she says...
no matter what she feels.
My surviving mom has a broken heart
that time won't ever heal.
