The team that is known as the best in Louisiana--The Atlanta Bulldogs at Atlanta High School. Year after year they amaze us. I just have to share some of our pride with you.
1996--1997 Boys Class C State Champions 39-5
1995-1996 These
bulldogs made history in Class C Basketball for the state of
Lousisana. This is the 1st team in Class C history to go undefeated with
a perfect 48-0 record. The first in history when Derek Smith was
named MVP all-state for the 3rd year in a row.The team also set a
record for the biggest margin of vistors in a state final game,
with a 98-49 score over Saline. Derek Smith also made the National
Record Book by becoming the 8th all-time career scorer in the
nation with 4,098 pts. The team made
history by being the only Class C team ever to win the famous
Saints Classic Tournament in Lake Charles by beating 4 powerful 5-A
schools. The team made history by having 4 players named to the
all-tournament team . The team also won the former McDonald's
Tournament in Alexandria. This team defeated Ouachita High School,ranked number one in Class 5-A,
on their own floor. In a 4-year span
this team had compiled a record of 167 wins and 11 loses and was not
defeated on its own floor. This team has won 3
Championships in a row,1996-1997 and 1995-96 with a 48-0 record and 1994-95 with a 42-3 record. They advanced to the Quarterfinals in 1993-94 and were state runners-up in 1992-1993 with a 35-7 record.
