Little Foxes

by: Joe Talhelm

"Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines; for our vines have tender grapes."

This passage comes from God's Word and is found in the book of Song of Solomon. I like this verse. It speaks to me. It speaks to me about my life and the things that influence me and my actions. The little foxes (influences) that can spoil the vine (my life) are the areas of my life that I need to keep a close watch on. These influences that spoil lives come from what we read, what we listen to, what we watch and who we acquaint ourselves with. These are the influences that will either draw me closer to the Lord or pull me away from His loving arms.

These influences are called little foxes for a few simple reasons. First, foxes are sneaky. They creep in and before you know it they are in the chickens, etc. Second, foxes are small. Without even noticing that they are around, they are there. Small enough not to be noticed, but big enough to much damage.

I want to, again, learn from the Word and remember that I must keep an eye on those things that influence me and my family. I can control this portion of my life with the help of the Holy Spirit. He wants to lead me and direct me in the right ways. I must every trust Him and follow His directions.
